Pleasure to help a little. Also, my baseline to make it "make appealing" was low to begin with as well.

I actually... kind of like it.

I do. I actually enjoy the crest shape that everyone is ridiculing. And everything within it flows together compositionally. The "N" letter mark and the descending lines surrounding it goes well with the octagonal crest, it's actually kind of brilliant to have them. It's rather abstract but it's genuinely unique in a good way, this would look great on cap or something, admit it.

And at first I wasn't wild about the wordmark at the bottom but it really manages to break up the space in just the right amount, giving the logo a "base" that doesn't conflict with rest like say Austin's round tree being "squished" by the line above it.

The almost indigo dark blue and slightly pale yellow colors are satisfying together and actually manages to be different than LAG's similar colors. I can see how somebody would look at it and think road sign or whatever but the stark dichromatic color scheme in tandem with the unique letter and crest shape makes the whole thing a draw to the eye.

Am I crazy? Do I have no taste? Because to me this looks like a good crest, one that will look excellent on a jersey.

I hated the MLS logo redesign. I was wrong.

I still don't like the kickstand but the rest has really grown on me. And I always liked the teams being able to change the logo to team colors.

I still don't like it. It looks like a placeholder logo on a video game for user created team or something. Just way too generic IMO.

You call it "pale yellow"...to me it looks neon yellow. Like it should glow in the dark. That may be appealing to some, but isn't to me.

As I have said many times, I understand you can't please everyone with a logo. It isn't possible, and at the end of the day it is just a freaking logo. I believe you are the first I have seen that says they like it. I just can't get past the road signness of it. If the team name or identity had something to do with road work/construction/equipment (like the Crew) then maybe. I guess there is no team identity yet. Maybe they call them the Nashville SC I-40s or I-65s or I-24s or Interstates

The Nashville logo is a broken plate of a mess of shards. It's a horror. It's only good quality is uniqueness. That's insufficient. Negative space symbols and letters occasionally work, but this doesn't for me.

I rarely get involved in discussions of stuff like this or announcers, because both topics are ostly subjective.

It's not a "big deal" just an observation. Personally, if I was starting a team, I'd want a name that three other teams don't already have, that's all.

i wasn't aware of any other team named Nashville SC (besides the USL team that will be replaced) or Toronto FC or FC Dallas.

FC or SC isn't the "name" of the club/team. It is just a moniker added to the end (or beginning). If you call someone Mr. Smith...their name isn't "Mr." You are just indicating they are an adult male.

Its fine that you don't like it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The part I took issue with was stating it was copying England. It makes complete since for a soccer team in an English speaking country to add SC or FC to the name. Obviously, since our country inherited its primary language from England, we are going to copy England's name conventions on most things.

[City] FC or SC isn't a name at all. If you want to use that logic, FC/SC is just a descriptor, as in a Chevrolet car. The distinction is Chevrolet, so it isn't confused with a Ford car.

But Chevrolet stands on it's own, but Nashville or Toronto or any other city does not, since they are places and big cities with lots of things going on in their own right. If you say, "cmon hosehead. I'm goin' to the Tronna game! You should come!" Your friend Hosehead will be confused because for all he knows The Jays or Argos or Maple Laffs or Raptors or Marlies are also playing, or even the U of T might be playing someone in any number of sports.

A lot of "FC" teams have organic nicknames, like the Reds, and Dallas tried to be the Hoops, but well, Adidas had something to say about that. I can't wait for the "Five Stripes" to change their name to the "Seven Stripes" or "Nine Stripes" once Adidas decides they want to do a jersey with thinner stripes Just Because.

I think this has already happened.
2018 Atlanta United jersey had 5 total stripes. I think the 2019 has 9 total but has 5 red. Considering this is their nickname (which i think is really dumb) why in the world would they change it in their 3rd year? I personally very much prefer the wider stripe 2018 version.

in 2019 they are the Atlanta United 5 red stripes, 4 black stripes or 9 stripes....if you count the black stripes down the sides then they are the 6 black stripes or the 11 stripes.

They should go with the early '90s AC Milan look and be the 27 stripes!

In general, that's one of the things that pisses me off about soccer uniforms in asa whole. The need to make changes, however subtle, pretty much every year, or every 2 years max.

If you look at old baseball pictures from 80 years ago, the Red Sox and Yankees have exactly the same uniforms. Exactly! The Dodgers and Giants have been wearing the same thing for more than 60 years, aside from the city on the cap. The same thing with the Habs, and the Bruins have had maybe 5 different uniforms (that would be a yearly change in soccer) for the past 45 years. The Steelers only changed the font of their numbers since 1970. I can go on with more examples, but there is really no reason to change things as often as soccer teams do. Other than making it easy for us to tell what year a picture is from...

So yeah, just to make people want to buy the latest jersey.

Yeah, but think about how fans clamored for sponsor logos on the front of MLS jerseys. Then shake your head like that George Washington guy after speaking with Ali G.

FWIW, Atlanta will always be the Five Stripes based on the stripes in the badge, not what's on their shirt. We've already wrestled with this online among SGs and fans so anyone who hasn't realized/accepted this is just out of the loop.

But the new kit sucks and the thin stripes are a large reason why.

LOL! "Wot if a goat tells you 'e got tha flu, bu' you know 'e's lyin"

My favorite one is when he's talking to the bomb squad guy and he accuses him of racism because they only use black labs to sniff out the bombs. "Don't you fink it's a bit racialist, yuh got tha bruvvas doin aww tha duu-ey wurk?"

Sure, but shouldn't the shirt match? Seems pretty simple that the shirt match the team "name". That is much larger and more visible than the logo.

    a) I would prefer that. Thin stripes rarely look good, IMO.
    b) If they were that literal in the interpretation then they wouldn't ever be able to change their jersey, and we know that wouldn't happen. But they had the badge and name long before the kit reveal and with the option for a nickname left to the fans that discussion began before we had an idea of the shirt. The kit simply cemented the name.

    Maybe this changes over time.

    wait, what?
you are saying that it is impossible to keep 5 stripes and change the jersey....really? Seems there are ways you could change a jersey and keep the number of stripes the same.

Just ask Dallas fans when they are going to revive the song "We are the Hoops!"

Instead, they have the much catchier song called "We used to be the Hoops, but because of f***ing Adidas, we can only call ourselves 'The Reds,' but we don't want to be confused with those hoseheads from the Great White North"
