Who said it was a money issue? If Kartik is to be believed (and I'm not one to say you should believe anything he says) it is because of Nagle. Being told by a well-connected source that wishes to remain anonymous that Nagle IS the problem with the Sacramento bid. "His ego has cost Sacramento a place in MLS," a quote from my source.— Kartik Krishnaiyer (@kkfla737) December 19, 2017 Course this has brought out everyone complaining that Sacramento should be in there on sporting merit and that we need to blow up the way MLS operates because of course it does.
There was a post on the Quakes board recently about the Sac bid not having deep enough pockets. I have a hard time seeing someone's supposed "ego" as disqualifying if the bid is as sound as it appears.
If you want that to happen then you need do that to the other leagues as well. MLS has a right to accept or not accept anyone or any groups into their club as they please. If they don't like someone in a group then its still their right to say no.
I was going to bring up NOLA. But, then there is Seattle with its 'grunge' history and, umm, potentially Austin...
Godspeed with the stadium plans on the state fairgrounds, just outside your downtown area. You’re set for life.
I'm watching tonight's news from ch. 4 Nashville, and the female anchor said "Nashville Soccer Club" with some authority.
The first second I saw this suggestion, I knew it was a third-rate name for a fourth-rate city. So I cracked open a new fifth of old scotch as my sixth sense told me I would be in seventh heaven by the eighth game of the season when they finally won, against a team playing with nine men. I rate it a perfect tenn.
If it is Nashville & Detroit, then MLS will have demonstrated how much having a downtown SSS is necessary for a city to get a team. Except for Columbus, of course, they must have one.
Yes i know that-- in my club name suggestion I was thinking of a widely recognized symbol of the state of TN, instead of "city name fc"
Correct and it seems that most teams retain their branding when they change leagues. Nashville SC was just founded in 2016 in NPSL, will play in USL in 2018, then apparently join MLS. So, it seems to me the name, colors, and logo are already decided and it all looks and sounds good to me. Note the guitar strings in the logo to symbolize music city:
Existing teams that made the leap to MLS (Sounders, Timbers, Whitecaps, Impact, Orlando) all kept their name and colours, but changed their logos.
