I'd like to know how it's the 8 car's mistake that he's leading on the last lap, and I'd like to know how it's the 48 car's mistake that he moved over a full lane lower on the track to pass the 8 car. Neither of those cars did anything wrong...the 25 thought that he could push the 48 past the 8 and didn't judge how much room he needed to move over behind the 48.
stockcarfans.com has a mailing list, I get that info every week - they may also have it on their website. ok, I was originally going to post the top 20, but I felt the need to go way overboard Remember the other 2 big fights going on: For 11th place, and for 35th place. You can't relly use the "classic points" list verbatim to figure out the 11th place battle (you have to think just a little), but you can for 35th place
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor/nascar/2006-10-12-mb2-carmichael_x.htm Ricky Carmichael, the long-time motocross star, is joining NASCAR. He is going to run a mixed bike/stock car schedule next year and join stockers full-time in 2008. Looks like he could be racing in ARCA trucks by the end of next year, so he isn't being dumped in the big leagues. It is interesting how many drivers are crossing over into NASCAR. It had to happen when you had nobodies like Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards coming out of nowhere to get top rides. And next year, there are going to be a lot of extra seats to fill with Toyota jumping in, but there are also going to be lots of drivers going home. I wonder if NASCAR will change the 35 limit to something like 30 or 27, to acknowledge the amount of quality near the bottom of the points standings and get all these new teams a better chance of qualifying. The most interesting thing about that article above: Carmichael is one of the few names I recognize from motocross, as I watch only about 10 minutes at a time when I am flipping channels. But Carmichael is only 26 years old! It seems like he's been around forever.
Montoya also. Nascar is too low-brow for the motorsports purists, but it's where the money and action is. Ganassi is already starting to sell swag to countries in Europe and S. America. The Montoya thing is a huge coup. By the way, he raced in the Arca Talladega event and said he had never had so much fun racing in his life.
That's interesting. Personally licensed merchandise was owned by the drivers, I thought. That's why Dale Earnhardt was so rich, t-shirts. Maybe Montoya has a marketting agreement with Ganassi, because he knows the local market, but that seems to put too much power over the driver's finances in the hands of the owner.
The wreck Montoya drove through was awesome. 18 out of 19 guys would have wrecked right along with the car who hit him broadside. I can't wait to watch him run real cars Talladega is an easy race for him though, there are no brakes used (except pitting) and you don't really notice the weight of the cars due to the banking. I wanna see him race Bristol or Martinsville Or even one of the road courses will be complicated for him, after driving cars that actually stick to the ground and make tight turns, the NASCAR car is gonna feel like a dumptruck Different drivers/owners have different deals on merchandise. Usually there is both "team" stuff and "driver" stuff to sell. Earnhardt made so much because he was the first guy to realize how much money would be involved and he got a big cut of the company that handles most drivers' and teams' stuff. So not only did he make alot selling DE stuff, but made some selling other people's crap too.
Kasey Kahne wins Charlotte. An ill-timed caution prevented Jeff Burton from going two laps down when he couldn't restart on pit road, so that opportunity to tighten up the standings fell away, as Burton still leads the standings. Here's what Junior had to say in the race http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/6064092

A frustrating day for this Dale Earnhardt fan as Jr. spun out near the end of the race. Maintaining position would have left win in second or third about 40 points out of first place, but he decided to mess with Kahne. watching them track down Robby after the race to ask him to comment was hilarious, he tried to hide between the trucks They used to do this stuff all the time to cause cautions, but now there are just so many cameras, it's hard to get away with - although NBC usually manages to miss entire accidents, so not everything is filmed
why was the crew chief fined, did he say to do it over the radio? Not like there's any love lost between Gordon and Childress already, but that harmless move probably cost Childress hundreds of thousands of dollars.
