he just signed a new contract that is reportedly worth 100 million yen a year. it goes on to say he is the richest active player in the j-league at the moment. seigo narazaki? why him?
Read the article again! What it says is that he is now the highest paid **Japanese** **goalkeeper** in the **J.League**. In other words, there may be other (nonJapanese) keepers in the J.League who earn more (eg. Jubilo Iwata's vanZwam); there may be other Japanese (non-goalkeeper) players in the J.League who earn more; and there may be other Japanese goalkeepers (not in the J.League) who earn more (eg. Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi). By the way, the information on amount paid in a contract is only based on leaked information. It is not a publicly available figure. So although Narazaki has apparently leaked news that he earns 100 million yen, there are several other players in the league who many people think may make over 100 million yen (eg. Akita, Nakanishi, Fujita), but there is no way to confirm it, and the player apparently doesnt want to brag so he doesnt leak the info to the press. Does it make more sense now?
i don't trust those salaries neither. my father used to be playing and coaching basball in japan. one time the media and book reported only half as much as he actually got paid. meantime i personally know players who got paid less than what was reported on media. these are just estimations but sometimes they get it right too.
100 Million yen, that is all they are paying Narazaki? I thought he was worth more than that...............
