Conte is the best coach this team has had other than Spalletti. the only coach that would of been better is Allegri and maybe Palladino… Vincenzo Italiano would probably get fired if he was at Napoli… though I think he will be our next coach after he is done at Bologna.
Too much complaining. Rrahmani just got back and looked rusty. He shitted himself, twice, but once he catches up to speed again he'll deliver. Roma made some good winter signings, Malen being one of them. And in Allison, it looks like Napoli made one, too.
I mean he did coach at Chelsea and Juve… did Juve win the scudetto because of his coaching or because of CR7 ?
Pirlo also had the same team a year later with CR7. Did he win the scudetto? How many European titles has Conte won?
Pirlo has done nothing at every club he has coached. I think his time at Juve was his most successful which probably comes down to the players Juve had and nothing to do with him. So does a European title determine how great a coach is ? Roberto De Matteo won a CL as did Zidane…. Oh and Viallas Boas where are these coaches now ?
Please dont put Conte's name in the same sentence as Sarri. Sarri laid the groundwork for both scudetti. Was it not for him ADL would never have money to compete. Sarri is a Napoli legend. Also his team still hold almost every Napoli record.
We need to hold this guy down. He made a huge impact, had we brought him on earlier, we perhaps would have even won. Unacceptable. Conte has already said getting into Europe will be overachieving for us, even if it is just the Conference league. I think he is kind of sad we did not lose, but he could not afford to leave Santos out of the game completely. How can anyone say that a player that comes on and scores, is not ready because he needs to learn? What an annoying man.
Sarri did great work and if Juve's power behind the scenes wasn't as great, I think Napoli would have won a title with him. In 1996 as a player. IMO he would take European titles more seriously if he felt they were winnable. But I do think he has a problem handling a large squad and competing on more than one front. He prefers to stick to the same 11 a bit too much. I also don't think he's a master tactician like Ancelotti. He emphasizes outhussling the opponent, not so much outsmarting and he takes minimal risks. You can't be unbrave and expect great fortunes. The important things to remember with Conte are; 1) Napoli has a project with a long term goal of developing local players and building some of the best infrastructure in Italy (training grounds, new stadium, etc). Conte seems to care about this project and looks committed. It will be hard to find another manager willing to do that like he does and with his level of experience in Italy. I think being from Puglia (southern Italy) is the important connection here and in a way, Napoli has come to symbolize the whole of Italy's south (although, Sicily will always hold itself differently). 2) Conte laid the foundation for Juve's decade long dominance. Managing 102 points in a season is no small feat. The Juve he built went on to compete in 2 UCL finals. He then went to Inter and did the same thing. Nor did he undo everything Spalletti did. He tried to build on Spalletti's work. 3) Serie A has been in decline. It will be difficult to compete financially with EPL's smallest clubs. And the best players in Serie A are typically players who weren't hacking it anymore in the EPL. This is somewhat good for Napoli, but makes it harder to win in Europe.
Who said anything about winning in Europe? I would be quite content with not being almost the worst there. And that, we were.
Sarri is a legend but for the most part coaches are remembered for being winners or helping mold a once in a generation type player. Zeman is a legend but he probably will be forgotten about.
If you were trying to discredit Sarri because he won a scudetto with good players like CR7, it should have been easy for Pirlo to do the same right? The fact the he even pulled it off having the locker room against him was impressive. At Napoli Sarri had a fraction of the budget Conte has. We can only dream what Napoli could have been if ADL gave him 150 million to play every summer. A European title doesn’t determine how good a coach is, but their record overall. Conte has remained true to his history since his days of coaching Juve. He comes in, builds a squad, wins a title and then crashes and burns in the subsequent seasons. Unfortunately for top teams, the calendar is more than the domestic season. He doesn’t know how to manage multiple comps. He doesn’t know how to manage the squad when the fixture list is long. He runs them into the ground in training and now it’s biting him in the ass with the amount of injuries we’ve accumulated. I don’t know why pointing out the obvious is wrong. I’m thankful for the scudetto, but it’s probably going to be a mutual split in the summer
I don’t think he has ever had an injury crisis like this in his coaching career. I think we banked on aging players staying fit with more games to play and have now come up lame… also our facilities are trash we need more than a coach we need an organization overhaul. what I’m saying with Sarri is he went to a Juve that was already dominant in the league he was brought in for European success not to win another scudetto with CR7.
Aging vs Inter's old. People make up all kinds stuff just to justify bad performances. We are actually better now with the injury crisis, even with the coach doing everything he can to keep scorers away from the pitch. They need to understand first how we move, like brownian motion, and how the black hole of his ego sucks everything in, and destroys any degrees of probability when it comes to getting a positive result.
Injuries aside, there have been a couple of signings that haven't worked out yet. Buongiorno has made a lot of mistakes. He needs experience to improve. He reminds me of Materazzi in terms of build and how he throws himself about, but without the reckless disregard for his opponent. Lucca is not up to par, not yet. He does look like Lukaku's successor. He reminds me more of Luca Toni, who wasn't very physical. I think Conte is really looking for a Vieri/Chinaglia type. All action, very physical English-style attacker who acts like a battering ram. This would explain why he's now on loan in England.
Conte would have been like, maybe in 7,000 years, if it was promised to you, you can play. He is not a coach, he is a biatch.
