IMO Mctominay has very little to do with it. If Conte had decent wingbacks, we would be playing 3-5-2 no question. Both Olivera and Di Lorenzo are normal fullbacks who cannot play the length of the field. This is why Politano plays. He needs the width. I’m not attacking Conte. He is doing good with what he was given. But IMO we are 2-3 signings away from giving him a team that he actually wants. It’s not a secret we are looking to sign Dorgu in January
We play 433 because it's how Spalletti built the team. Players fit that formation. A 352 would need a Pirlo or Calhanoglou type. We lack a "conductor."
Yes, but that is not the only thing that we need to improve. I still insist Kvara and Politano need to do more, but I am not surprised that we lost; therefore, there are no hard feelings. Based on our performances before AC, it was nice to see us win more or less easily against Milan; however, Atalanta was a different picture. Unlike Milan, they know exactly what they want to play, and they have had not internal struggles lately. It is actually a positive thing that we could have done a bit more based on how the game looked. Still, although I understand the argument of Sacki, I cannot accept it completely. I feel like people treat Kvara like the kind of winger that has consecutively proven himself. I do not believe that to be the case. No need to claim that he is most definitely a better player than Lookman, at least in my opinion. We will need to find a way to avoid another 'disaster' against Inter, that is for sure. You can say whatever you want, but last season I have seen Kvara run straight into the defender too many times.
We have to blindly believe in Kvara that is the rule. Jokes aside, what else do we have? When he came off against Atalanta we couldn't even get near their box, I know Neres is not a Left winger, but even he did less with the ball than arguably Kvara's worst performance in a Napoli shirt. I feel like Kvara's position is all wrong, its too wide and too deep - in the beginning of the season, before we had signed McTominay, Kvara played his best football in a year, and in that time he played way more central allowing him not having to rely so much on pace, which imo is his weakpoint as a winger. Lookman is great but I dont think he is at the level of Kvara - I believe Kvara is more suitable for top teams where space to operate in is often very limited. I honestly think we will get the best out of Kvara if he is given freedom to roam anywhere on the pitch, I'm tired of looking at him half-assing his defensive duties only to tire himself out for when Napoli needs him in the final third.
I feel like Inter is the upgraded version of Atalanta, their ability to track back and also join attacks in an instance is like poison to our team, that contain a lot of players who prefer retaining possession and perhaps are not as great in games where the possession switches back and forth all the time. I don't expect anything from the Inter game, just hope for the best.
Inter has been letting in goals this year. Hopefully our team is ready to take the game to them and learn from their defeat.
U win Lookman is the better player, I give in. Now can u please beat Real Madrid, just so I get to watch Vini's reaction during the game
I was gonna write it looks like Meret will make a big build up mistake this game after the first 10 mins, because he looked so shaky, then he did whatever that attempt at a save was. It was a great shot and all that, but it also proves Meret is not a top of the league goalkeeper.
