Who would you rather have between the pipes? It is playoff time and a lousy spot to oust your "starting keeper" but Kramer has been downright horrible as of late and I for one would rather have some spring in the net. Comments?
I can't even speculate on this. I've never seen Napoleon play. However, I think game 2 of a series when our back is against the wall is the wrong time to start experimenting, especially when it comes to starting A-league calibur talent.
Napolean has been around a while and is a solid keeper. U-17's, U-23's, backup for the Olympic Team, Columbus Crew, Tampa Bay. I'm tired of Kramer's flat-footed-turtle-style. I agree that this isn't the best time however.
If only for the reason that Napoleon really hasn't trained with the team, that alone should keep Kramer in the starting role. Communication between the keeper and the field players -- especially his defenders -- is a huge consideration. Hard to tell based on the TV broadcast whether this was one of the issues on Wednesday night, but it's not an area that Napoleon would be immediately capable of improving upon.
Agreed. Hankison should have pushed for a quality, starting caliber keeper when he realized the Garlick was going to miss the rest of the season. He should have seen enough of Kramer to know the guy is a career backup. He only signed Napolean as an emergency keeper. There is no chance of this guy actually playing. Otherwise, we would have seen him in a game after a playoff spot was wrapped up to see if he could play.
