What changes did they approve? Are we going to get fireworks next year? This would make us a little closer to the real Fire and Soldier Field.
Umm, let's see...picture the same or smaller crowd size that you've seen in NPRVL,add alcohol and stir, in a large, oversized, cavernous bowl. Sprinkle with fireworks. For all the complaints about NPRVL ( and boy do I complain) when we get back to SF it's going to feel awfully empty and quiet.
Re: Re: Naperville approves Fire for 2003 Naperville has agreed to let the Fire try the Fireworks in a demonstration to see if they have any negative effect on the people who live near Cardinal. Once the city council gets feedback they will give the final thurmbs up or down on the issue.
I don't know...I guess I never really felt lost in Soldier Field. Yeah, it was big, but from where I sat never 'cavernous'. I don't think the new place will be that way either...probably less so.
I'd trade all of those for seasons like in the past, where we weren't sweating our playoff lives on the last day of the season.
As usual, what he said. Additionally, Solder Field held noise very well. I also agree that I rarely felt like I was in an empty bowl there. For a large venue it was actually failry intimate. Oh year -- the crowds we averaged there were LARGER. We averaged 16,400 last season. Cardinal holds 15,900.

I made it to one game this year and it wasn't a good enough experience to convince me to go back. I'm fine waiting for them to be a Chicago team again, it's just a shame they couldn't find something that works that somewhat resembles "convenient" to their original fan-base.
Typical. I am very much a part of the Fire's "original" fanbase. Whether I like NCC and Cardinal Stadium or not, I find it convenient as hell... more convenient than it ever has been. SF was and will be inconvenient as hell for me... expensive too. So I'll call your "original" fan and raise you a "devoted" fan who went to SF and will again... inconvenient or not.
Updated link: http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_story.asp?intID=3751761 April 26. That's a long time. Oh well. As to that first paragraph...are there any huge tracts of undeveloped land in Naperville?
I'll echo these comments. I've been a season ticket holder from the beginning. I live in the western burbs so Cardinal Stadium is a total breeze. Some of the suburban families at the games annoy me, but that's just me. Some of the people used to annoy me at Soldier Field too. If Cardinal Stadium had a regulation size field with real grass it would be a model for all of MLS.
