What the hell? I tune in here trying to get an explanation of what a slow jam actually is (I'm thinking more along the lines of "Do that to me one more time" by Dionne Warwick or whoever it is that sings that song), and Baked Alaskan has the Scorpions in his top three? This is how all threads should turn out!

    "Sparks" - Royksopp

This song has been in my head for two days now; can't get enough of it !

(It probably doesn't fall into your category of slow-jams, but it's a beautiful song nonetheless...)

What's scary is that 'Still Loving You' is probably my favorite slow jam (or is that a power ballad? God, I don't know), and it's also a Scorps tune......although I'm not as devoted as you are towards them.

    Lawd, have mercy...

A "Slow Jam" is the kind of music that you (slow) dance/grope to with a woman you want to bed. Power ballads need not apply.

    Five Stairsteps - "Ooh Child"
Simply Red - "If You Don't Me By Now"
Pretty much anything by Sade. She has the voice the corrupt good boys like me.

A good test on whether a song constitutes as a "slow jam" - if you can imagine a thunder sound effect and a baritone voice saying "You're listening to the Quiet Storm on Q75.3...." with the song, then it's a slow jam. If you can play air guitar to it, it's probably not.

    SLow Jams

Slow Jams, what comes to mind immediately are 80's like R&B cuts. Luther Vandross, etc.

But to me, I like some other "slow Jams". For the ladies, etc. Here are a few of mine with relative translation:

The Dining Rooms: Chorus of Flames
Something about the sound in this is raw, and very cool.

S-Tone Inc.: Arejar (original)(To "Air" - let loose)
It kicks - it's soulful emotion in her voice.

    S-Tone Inc.: Ainda Sonhar (Dreamer)
Perhaps one of the smoothest new bossa's ever made. The way it starts and ends is classic S-Tone Inc.

Celso Fonseca.: A Origem Da Felicidade (Origin of Happiness)
Nice little samba that sort of glides through in the song. You cannot help but feel good when you hear this.

    Beth Hirsch: Come a Day
More melancholic that the previous. But still pretty good.

Air: You Make it Easy (of course.. Beth Hirsch)
Actually, it's more just the Moon Safari CD. You can put it in and the songs go together.

    Bugge Wesseltoft: South
Almost too laid back - this jazz cut is pure slow grind.

Helena Noguerra: Esse Lugar and Vida Nunca Terra Fim
One of my favorite singers (and she's hot too). She's sexy, and the music is dark and passionate.

    Fernanda Abreu: Voce Pra Mim
Good Brazilian slow jam - remix for the former "Da Lata" member taken from her Raio X cd.

Cazuza/Bebel Gilberto: Eu Preciso Dizer que Te Amor
One of my favorite slow cuts. Raw recording, not the best sound quality - but still an all time favorite.

Antonio Carlos Jobim: The Gold Collection
This is an entire album. The sound quality is below par, but when you hear it in the right frame of mind, it reminds you of staying in an open house along a tropical beach with a vinyl record player - and the music is so perfect becuase it isn't perfect. Maybe the favorite cd that I own.

Stateside, there are loads. But the ladies seem most partial to anything I have on the Celso Fonseca CD - and one friend said she feels real "sexy" when I play Ainda Sonhar from S-Tone Inc. Those two tracks should be easy to find.
