Name the D2 - What's your guess?

I'm betting no "L" on the end but an "A" for association.

 

I believe that USL owns the rights to A-League.

I just hope its not the NA-League since that would be Not Applicable

 

Since it is going to be run by the federation and MLS runs USSF like it's own little protectorate, I'm going with Minor League Soccer, or MiLS.

 

At least we know they won't go for the eurosnob approach and call it Minor League Football...

 

I think we should call it that anyways. MiLF would be awesome!

 

The American States Soccer League. ASS-League for short.

I would say United States Soccer League (USSL) but since there are Canadian clubs involved...
American/Canadian Soccer League (ACSL)
Soccer Leagues United (SLU)
Federation Soccer League (FSL)
North American Soccer Association (NASA)

 

Or just call it "The Soccer League Association (TSLA)" .

Let IKEA sponsor it, and name it after a piece of their furniture:

the Ektorp Soccer League.

 

Since it is being run by the USSF, I would be happy with something simple like US Division 2.

Much like the second divisions of other countries. I know it's boring, but its only for a year.

 

I like MLS-2.

 

Why? It's not affiliated with MLS in any way.

Well, if we include "football" in the title, and it's sexy, then I think, by law, we have to bring Ruud Gullit in.

But, if we're describing what it really is, it's the WTF Unorganized Soccer Association.

WUSA.

Of course, as DavidP mentioned, it's probably going to be sponsor-heavy, covering so much land in a 2nd division. Of course, 2nd division soccer cant exactly ask for a lot of money, so they're more likely to have lots of smaller brands sponsoring them, rather than a megabrand, ie the Coca Cola Championship.
