I really liked Korsten - or at least I really wanted to. In my head - which I find increasingly prone to error these days - he made his debut for us right around the time that we signed Simon Davies and Mathew Etherington from Peterborough. I was certain that we were about to hit on the right combination of young up-and-coming talent and quality experience - i.e., Campbell, Ginola, Anderton - and begin our push up the table. oh lord ... was I ever that young?

that's so true. that era (late 90s/early 00s) is particularly true regarding new signings. it was around this time that we (or at least I) first started to see dedicated internet sites giving more in-depth day-to-day analysis of the goings on at football clubs. so unlike in the past, when you'd read about transfers after they happened, now you would hear about prospective signings ... and you'd use that crazy internet to go and find out more about these targets ... and you (ok, I) would end up all excited about the qualities that the likes of Goran Bunjevcevic and Milenko Acimovic were going to bring to White Hart Lane. and you'd be so invested in liking them that you couldn't just up and dislike them for no better reason than being shyte. you're absolutely right though. I bang on all the time about how shit we were back then ... but I loved all the players.
