Not a fan of the white. Use the yellow or the silver. Drop one of those colors between the blue stripes and use the other for the shorts
This is just madness. City, FC, SC, United. Christ almighty. No originality at all. And argument that thats how football clubs are named in Europe is bullshit.
I know this may be low hanging fruit but I don't care. With the new announcement the shirts need to now be checkerboard!
I'd be good with a full checker like Croatia, but wouldn't be surprised if it ended up something more like Minnesota and their Target logo.
This came up today on a facebook page that posts daily old NASL pictures.... . I thought the Stars name and color scheme were kind of ahead of their time. It would have been cool to see the St. Louis Stars again...
I realize the team was around for a few years already, but 1976 was the country’s bicentennial. There were years of build up. Everything was red, white, & blue and had stars. I went to stars games. I had that ball. I liked their theme. But, the vast majority of the fans have no idea who they are. The new STL MLS team was correct in creating a their own new identity.
Yeah maybe but not sure how anyone relates more to an SC, FC a Union or another United team. The St. Louis Stars actually came up in 1967. Just seems to me to be wannabe Euro..... They did have that bicentennial look but they had nice colors and cool logos too....
So this isn’t about liking the Stars but rather not liking the choices the team made. If your ability to relate to a team is dependent upon its name, I feel sorry for you. As far as the “wannabe Euro” crap, you just don’t know your soccer history. The first organized team in the US was Oneida Football Club in Boston in 1862. In the 1920's and 1930's, there were: Paterson F.C. New York Giants F.C. Bethlehem Steel F.C. Boston S.C. Philadelphia F.C. Bridgeport F.C. Brookhatten F.C. Brooklyn Wanderers F.C. Celtic F.C. Falco F.C. Fall River F.C. New York S.C. Locally, before the merger with Gallagher, Busch was always called "Busch Soccer Club" as was/is "St. Louis Kutis S.C." The original St. Louis Soccer League from the first four decades of the previous century had multiple F.C.'s and even some A.C.'s Look, if you don't like the name, fine. But don't post bullshit in a lame attempt to discredit it.
Sure but unless you are 95- 100 years old, "the vast majority of the fans have no idea who they are" either. No one alive today for example would know about Bethlehem Steel unless they are talking about the USL club from 2016–2018 or reading archives. A lot of people still resonate with the NASL though. That's why the Earthquakes, Sounders , Whitecpas and Timbers names were revived. Same thing goes for the New York Cosmos and the Tulsa Roughnecks. As a matter of fact, it was sad they had to remame the latter, Tulsa FC. Anyway, I’m not arguing but I still think the Stars name and colors schemes will have been cool for St Louis. To each his own though...
I'd have gone with either Gateway St. Louis SC (in recognition of the city's historic past and the promise of its future) or St. Louis Legacy SC (a nod to the sport's rich tradition in "America's First Soccer Capital").
"Legacy" is *so* tacky, though. It just sets you up for ridicule for A) not living up to the name, and B) simply being an abstract noun. "Stars" isn't abstract, but would fall flat for similar reasons, i.e. not living up to the name both in history or in never drawing world-class signings like Miami, LAx2, NYC, or ATL can. "Gateway" would've been okay. I've previous pushed for "Confluence", which is a play on "United" that would've still been distinctly St. Louis. I know people sh!t on "City" for being Euro-posing, but of all the Euro-posing monikers, "City" actually *works* for St. Louis since it's one of the few independent cities in the US. In a similar vein, a play on "Olympic" would've been workable too.
Wouldn't that be during jersey reveal week/month whatever it is? Perhaps after the season. Or before the holidays. Charlotte FC revealed theirs at the beginning of December, maybe then.
I got mine Wednesday. There were 6-7 sections available No section had more than 30 seats left Some had less than 4. I'm guessing there are 125-150 total seats left. (Not counting visitor section and the ones they have to hold out for individual game sales) My view:
