what does anyone know about these 2 players, and how do people that know them, feel about them even possibly coming to Metro?

Would MLS pony up for them, because they are both still under contract with dundee, and with all due respect I think they could do better.

Yes they are still under contract but with the financial problems at Dundee they both can be bought very cheaply...

You guys are taking a half-assed rumor like this seriously? I read that comment in the Scottish paper (in an article about Mathis' trial with Rangers) as a total space filler; "Mathis may be going to Rangers, but Metrostars assistant boss Mo Johnston may swoop in for Dundee's Rae and Novo".
Crap, crap, crap. Mo Johnston, I believe, doesn't 'swoop in' for anyone - Bob Bradley does. Mo's spent the last couple weeks swooping around for a possible head coaching opportunity, if anything. It's an easy rumor, because everyone in the world is being linked with Dundee players now. But it's just silly papertalk.

Just hold on until next July, after we get held scoreless one game and manage just one the next, and the usual names will moan and carry on about how Bob Bradley passed up Rae and Novo.

I never heard of this Nacho Novo guy but he seems like a better fit for the Chivas USA team than the MetroStars ... unless he's Colombian, of course.

I think my friends ordered Nachos Novo off the appetizer menu the last time we went to Chi Chi's. I scavenged a few from their plate. They were aight.

What makes you think a Spaniard would be a good fit on Chivas America?

Maybe the reason they used Mo's name in a scottish newspaper is because maybe Mo is scottish. Maybe Mo is well known in Scotland. Maybe the people of Scotland dont know who Bob Bradley is so the paper used Mo's name instead because he is the assistant coach of the MetroStars. Maybe the scotts would be more interested in reading a story related to Mo then lets say.. Bob Bradley.

All i'm saying is that i highly doubt the story was completely made up to take up some space. This rumor is very possibly true given the fact that Dundee is in serious financial crisis and is looking to unload many of its higher paid players including both Novo and Rae.

They already sacked their highest earners, players like ravanelli, burley, sara & caballero etc
They kept the ones they most likely could punt, and even in a depressed market both would have a price tag of between 500,000 and 1 and a half million on them.
Rae is an international and Novo is a handy wee player, I think they are out of MLS reach and Rae has been looked at by clubs in england and italy.

Besides they are not the type of players the MLS brings in from Europe . They are both in their early 20's .

Gav is a solid mid-fielder , good at holding the ball up . His contract with Dundee is up in May .

Nacho Novo is a useful forward who is among the top Non Old Firm scorers in the League . He runs his legs off and has a good nose for goal . His work rate kind of reminds me of Mathis before he became a star and the knee injury . He still has a year to go on his contract with Dundee .

So no player rumors of any kind are to be talked about ? What a load of crap , isn't this type of talk that drives this board ( or any other sports related board ) during the off season ? I guess they better stop all talk in the papers about baseball's "hot stove league" as well . I think people take these boards way too seriously .

Of course! That's why the Metros are clearing so much cap space!

I wonder what your reaction would be if these players were from Dundee United instead...

No Ed, I'm not saying that at all. I love a decent rumor as much as anyone. But I think it's pretty obvious - to my eyes, anyway - that this one exists only in the mind of the guy who wrote that story, period. I like to think that all of us here have the savvy to see through through these things for what they are; but Haig is right that, sure enough, come July someone will start asking why Bob let us all down by not getting Nacho Novo when he 'could have'.

The only player from United I would go for if I were the Metros would be Paul Gallager .. He's a great keeper .

If you read between the lines of my post you would have picked up I don't think either player would come to the Metros either . That being said , even stupid rumors are what generates talk about teams in the off season .

Dundee is desparate to unload players . They are in a financial crisis ( Chapter 11 in the USA ) . They would be happy to let them go for a reasonable fee . 250k has been mentioned for Rae ( he's been valued for as high as 2.5 mil ) .
