My understanding is the Travel Ban that was signed in June has a clause that allows for the WC and Olympics. Athletes, coaching personnel, trainers and staff as well as immediate family members of athletes are not part of the ban from the 9 countries. How they'll handle the delegation from Iran, no idea.
How exactly is this thread in any way tied to USMNT News and Analysis. There are PLENTY of other forums where they are discussing the WC overall, and specifically the political angle. Take this over there. I want to read about the team, not about what anyone thinks about politics. Can't we have one place where politics isn't mentioned?
Is there any evidence of that request? Why they've had a change of heart from when they awarded it? Why Boston? The president of the United States is threatening to move games from a blue city and not the more dangerous ones in red state. How is this supposed to be seen as a non political issue lol?
I think when soccer becomes affected by partisan politics, it's natural to talk about it in a soccer forum. I hope the threat to move WC games is just bluster. Seems like if there is any actual safety concern, the solution is to provide a security surge during the event.
Eh, the Admin threatened to move WC games. The World Cup is a soccer tournament. The current addition is being staged in the US. The US is participating. This is a soccer forum. So, what exactly is your issue?
I think it's worth discussing somewhere but I'm not sure it's a USMNT issue specifically. I suppose you could say it would affect where they will play since they're already scheduled to be in cities that would be probably targeted for moving because of such superficial reasons. Pretty sure the host cities in South Africa, Brazil, and Russia were more dangerous than any of ours this go around.
If Trump tries to have games moved out of a city, what I would like to see is those games moved to Canada or Mexico. The reaction would be most entertaining.
I think the Special Boy waited too long to cry about this, because tickets are already on sale. If he had said in February that he wants matches in (IDK) Nashville, Las Vegas, and Indianapolis instead of Boston, Philadelphia, and Seattle, then maybe it could have been pushed through. Because FIFA is clearly a big fan of his with the United States abandoning its stance against FIFA's corruption.
Hi all - politics are out of bounds for this forum. If this materializes we might try to discuss it here but for now it’s just people being partisan and this forum is open to all.
