For a variety of different reasons, I fell away from this in the middle of season 2. I have watched parts of episodes here and there since, and have always found those vignettes very unfunny; but I put that down to not keeping up. Saw the complete episode tonight and maybe I'm missing something, but that was just so bad, so awful, so terrible. It failed on just about every possible front, from the dream sequences to, well, everything. And I'm far from PC, but the wheelchair 'jokes' especially during the game were just cringingly, embarrassingly awful. Did they clear out the whole writing staff and replace them with public access teenage 'geniuses'? Or did I just hit a really bad episode? What a clusterfuck of a show that was once one of the funniest on TV.
yup, it's almost unwatchable now. it's been a combination of bad writing and randy trying to carry the show and it's failed miserably. i really hope some people got fired for this.
I've given up on this show. I used to look forward to watching it, now I dread it. I can't remember the last time I laughed while watching the show it's been that bad. To say it's a sophomore slump would be an understatement. It's more like the sophomore suck.
Pretty funny episode last night which by the end finds Earl having money again, though probably not in the way he originally expected. Oh, and mmm... Alyssa Milano (she still looks really good for her age)! -G
I was surprised by how good Alyssa Milano looked. Good for Earl. I didn't love the episode, but it seemed like it was getting back to what it does best.
How old are you guys that consider Alyssa Milano old? She is around the same age as me and I really don't think I'm an old hag.
I'm guessing most of them are over-estimating her age. I did - I was surprised at her age when I looked it up. I figured she was at least 5 years older than she is.
For those that don't feel like looking it up... [result]Milano was born in December of 1972. She's currently 35 years old.[/result]
This is entirely true for me. And then I just read through some of this thread out of sheer curiosity: Earl was in a coma? What... did they hire the writers that ruined The Sopranos? Did Randy show up in a leather bar as well? I'm glad I've been missing it.
The ex-bagger Earl helped to win the National Bagging Competition in yesterday's episode was played by Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame. The one-hour season finale is next week. -G
Funny hour-long season finale yesterday. With Billie eventually joining the Amish-like Camdenites, signing divorce papers with Earl, giving him back his list and leaving him the $72k that was left of her insurance claim, the series is set to start next season back where it belongs: with Earl and Randy once again free to cross things off his list without jail and a coma getting in the way. BTW, Alyssa Milano looked different during her stint on this show compared to her previous appearances on TV - still cute, but somehow different. -G
