I really like the backstory episodes because shows how much thought really goes into this show. Last night was my favorite of the season. Also a great appearance by Howie Mandell poking fun at the not so funny gag which kept his career going long enough to make it back to the big time. Best line, though was the one where Earl laments what it would like to be married to the woman in the next hotel room (Joy).
As funny as this season has been, I agree that last night's episode was the best so far. It felt the most like the show's episodes of the past (and not just because most of it didn't take place in prison). It's no surprise at how much thought went into this episode considering that Greg Garcia (the show's creator) wrote and directed it. -G
Howie's best trick is the rubber glove over-the-head-thing. Here he is showing Ted Danson how to do it. The vid is over 6 minutes long, but you only need to see the first minute or so to get it.
I really like the "Earl" flashback episodes, like the one from this past week. It's great how the writers come up with these backstories that somehow make sense. (However, I think they fudged something with Catalina as she was saying, in Spanish, something about how her meeting up with Crab Man didn't make sense.)
Good episode this week with Earl taking a creative writing class in prison, only to hit writer's block while everyone else had no problem writing: Randy and H.R. Pufnstuf saved a kidnapped Earl and Catalina from a rhino-headed mob leader and his army of ninjas led by ninja-Joy Darnell wrote and sang "Respect the Meat" for his crabs Joy taught her kids an animated lesson in not growing up to be a "loser" (i.e. Earl) Catalina starred in a telenovela named Catalina: Woman of a Thousand Tears In the end, Earl simply wrote about his time with his friends, read his story to the rest of the class and was applauded for it. -G
I hated this episode. After so many good episodes, this was a major letdown. I barely laughed. I hope they get back to business next week.
Okay, I'll admit it... I actually hit the pause button at that moment she's leaving the room after talking with Earl. As she turns - wearing her little cop outfit - they made sure a bit of tush was peaking out of from under her skirt. Now that's must see TV!
The interaction between Earl and his "girl" was incredibly funny. I like when Earl touched the guy's boobs and smiles in wonder and says "techology!"
Funny hour-long episode this week of Cops taken at the 2002 4th of July Camden County Fair and how that episode got prison-guard Randy respect in the present day from the inmates. -G
I thought the episode was very funny, but isn't it a little early to do another "Cops"-inspired episode?
Annie: "that is why I am having the whole surgery" Earl: "you would think they would have a better name for it."
It'll be interesting to see how a feuding Earl and Randy find the escaped convict, as well as whether Joy is successful inducing labor despite the her half-sister's wishes. -G
That was pretty hilarious. Still, Earl's done virtually nothing towards his list all season. Kinda pissing me off.
Even after using the remainder of his savings toward putting on the prison prom by the warden's request, Earl still got his "six months off" certificate shredded by the warden behind his back. Next week: the jail-break. -G
This guy really likes season 3. http://www.newsobserver.com/105/story/814093.html He goes on to say that the season is a parody of Prison Break. Since I haven't seen that show ever, I may be missing some of the jokes.
Who knew that Darnell's appearance would be the thing that finally set Earl free? Also, the look of quiet happiness on Joy's face during the group hug with Earl at the end seemed to show how much things have changed between them since she tried to kill him for his will money in the series premiere. -G
