Can any of you tell me or give me some insight why I had to wait till the ungawdly hour of 3:30 am on Wed,April 9th to watch the Real Madrid/Man U game on TSN?Ah yes,let me answer my own question. The always entralling and entertaining curling was on when the game started.Yeah, you heard me right, curling was on.The sport loved, played and watched by millions around the world. Now that's no disrespect to you curling fans, but let's get real. Now I am not naive enough not to know that it is a rating's game on TSN's part, but you mean to tell me that a UEFA Champions League game between argueably two of the Top 5 club teams in the WORLD would not get ratings, that's absurd.See,TSN may try to sell me this business that curling is there baby, but you know what,I ain't buying that.Once again fellow Canadian futbol fans,we get the boot right up the yazoo and is it really any wonder why soccer is so poorly accepted and supported in this country. We(Canada) have miles and miles and miles of road to travel to catch up with the rest of the futbol universe.Oh yeah, don't bother emailing TSN either, because you're email will fall on deaf ears as many of mine have regarding these bloody tape delays. It is not the first and certainly won't be the last time this will happen,100% guarenteed. To that I say, pity.
Curling is a Canadian sport, and it deserves to be on TV (especially the World Championships). However, I understand your frustration about the Champions League match not being on television.
I'll add that TSN gets better ratings for curling and they know that the people who usually watch CL will be back because they have a monopoly on the CL. And if you were so intent on watching the game, you could have found it in many a pub (it was notably live on RDS, not to mention countless sattelite feeds).
Ah yes,Daniel from Montreal,The eternal optimist, the man who sees Canadian soccer through rose coloured glasses.Once again I am wrong and soccer support in this country is booming, there is no soccer crisis here, right Danny Boy?And yes I could have gone to a pub,but you see Danny,I have responsibilities at home that I must take care of,something that may be a foreign concept to you,so I don't have time for pubs. All I want is a chance to see the games on my national sports networks in the comfort of my home. You have a problem with this?Let me answer that for you,you most likely do,right?I am not surprised.I'm out.
The reason why soccer is so poorly accepted here is not because TSN would rather show curling than the champions league but because so many people would rather watch Champions league and all that foreign soccer over any domestic soccer Canada has. Why should Canadians accept soccer when most of it's fans in this country support the foreign game over the domestic game?
What domestic soccer Canada has?????????In order to support something,it has to be present.Like I said before, give me soccer to support in this country and I will be first in line.I want Canada to suceed at this great game but there has to be much more of a concerted effort by the powers that be to make this possible. It is just that plain and simple and really those who disagree are living in a dreamland, bottom line.
The best we have right now is the A-League. Four Canadian teams in a USA league (Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto). Yes, Toronto has a team. www.torontolynx.com www.torontoultras.com
Yes and trust someone from Toronto to not have any knowledge of this. Plus there is the CPSL (how can one not know this, for some reason there is a sticky about the CPSL at the top of this section of the forum. I hate stickies). I'll say this again. It seems most complaints about Canada not respecting and supporting soccer as they do in the rest of the world come from people who have never gotten off their butts and paid to see a soccer game in this country. They think support for soccer comes from sitting at home and watching foreign soccer on the TV which is complete BS. Soccer will not get any respect when nobody in Canada goes to watch what they have. Perhaps if we filled our stadiums for games that are played here, TV people would start to notice and say "hey, there is interest in this". Running out in the streets with some foreign countries flag once every four years during the world cup doesn't count. So those people who don't support domestic soccer (and are too ignorant to even know we have domestic soccer) have no right to complain about it.
Well then Krammer',you're not talking to me I guess.I used to go see Toronto Blizzard games with my fanatical ,futbol mad Scottish uncle who got me into soccer in the first place. So don't talk to me about not supporting Canadian ball.Plus my love for the game didn't and doesn't stop there either,I am a big supporter of youth futbol here in Toronto, something which is very vital if we ever want to see soccer grow in this country.Yes,I do know there is an A-League in this country which is definately a start but if you expect me to watch a Toronto Lynx game live say vs. a Real Madrid/Man U game on the tube then you my friend are,INSANE!I like to watch the BEST players play the BEST futbol, period!Weather it's played here,England,Spain,Germany or bloody tim-buck-too is totally irrelevent.Understand?
ZZZZZzzzzz!Oh sorry, you called Krammer'?I was just having myself a nap since it is NOT RIGHT for me to support foreign futbol(I was about to go watch my tape of the Real' destruction of ManU),but you know what? I felt guilty after your post dissing me for supporting teams that do not play here in Canada. It will never happen again, promise.I will just wait till we get that quality here in T.O,mind you they will be digging me from my grave in order for me to see it because I don't see it happening for a long, long time.
Yes, I'm very sorry that you couldn't see the game live or how impossible it is for you to get a satellite dish and get RDS. This is me crying. Boo-fuçking-hoo. PS: You still don't have a good reason why TSN should show that instead of curling. They haven't lost ONE viewer because of this and they get better ratings. What do you expect them to do?
They won't get that quality ever, since in order to build up to that level people have to support what they have. I'm guessing Real Mardrid didn't get where they are today by people staying at home waiting for it to happen.
Dan, No disrespect,my man,but you bore the $hit out of me with some of you're posts, the last one included.I,as a fan of futbol just wants the chance to watch the game on TSN when it actually starts and not some 12 hrs. later.WHAT THE HELL IS YOU'RE PROBLEM WITH THAT?Damnit son, loosen that bloody wrench clenched on you're n*t's and lighten up.Talk to you later, maybe.
You obviously understand nothing of how television is run and you won't listen so... I wish I could watch all televised soccer games in the world, live, in my home. WHAT??? I can't??? WTF IS THAT??? (sic) PS: Oh, and btw, I'm not "your man"; he's probably bent over somewhere taking it in the shïtter from you, eh? Cheers, dick. PPS: Nice favourite teams, now piss off.
Very insightful Dan,now why don't you go hang out with the rest of you're 18 yr.old friends and spew that kind of foul mouth nonsense you're yapping about.Just curious though, where exactly in any of my posts did I say that I want to watch "ALL"televised games from around the world in my home?I was talking about the Real'/Man U game.Nothing more, nothing less.Secondly,if you read my original post, which is abundently clear that you didn't,you would have read that I said I am not naive enough not to know it's all about rating's for TSN.So next time read the thread first, then comment, not the other way around. Nice to see that you like my favorite teams,Damn I knew there had to be some intelligence in the dome of yours,I've yet to read about any of it,but if you like Real' and Mexico then it's obviously there.Just when do you propose to show it though? Later!
Oh, NOW I get it. Let me rephrase your post so I can understand the point then. "tHe sky is bleu! is so stupid that the sKy is blu! i Want grEen!!!"
Okay Dan,that truly does sound right. But heh,I also want Mexican actress and beauty Salma Hayek.I'll never get her,but does that mean I still can't wish for her? That was my point and is there anything wrong with that? That is a joke Dan,just in case you were not aware. I will however give you your props for being a supporter of Canadian ball,it is admirable I must admit.Damn, that was hard to say.I am Canadian through and through and would like nothing more than to see our men's and women's squad's really have an impact on the world scene. You obviously seem to have more connections to soccer in this country. Is Canada's success on the International scene, and I ask this sincerely,on the horizon anytime soon,in your opinion? I would also appreciate if you could give me some web sites on where to follow our teams to get the latest info on there progress. Regards.

Canada won the 1st place in the men's tournament and 2nd in the women's just another reason why the average Canadian would rather see the World Championships being held in Canada rather than an european soccer game.
