Kyle's latest offering: The RFC is a day late this week. My apologies. (ed note: Friday is your day) “Real life” sorta gets in the way sometimes and suffice it to say, writing deadlines fall pretty far down the priority list. Just don’t tell my editor. He’s an asshole. (ed note again, AHEM) I am actually a bit curious as to how this Sunday will fair for our boys in gold. Or is it yellow? Is there an official ruling on the club color?
What’s on Tap: Saint Louis (0-1-0) plays its men’s soccer home opener Saturday against the 13th-ranked South Florida Bulls (0-1-0) at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. <click for more>
Here's another: http://floodplainfooty.wordpress.co...is-press-release-schuler-rejoins-ac-st-louis/ We got two pressers from local teams, Kyle put up his RFC, and there's an interview coming up shortly. Also...please remember, I don't post EVERY article in this thread...we used to have limits of how much to post daily, but we kind of stopped that....lol.
...and we just DON'T shut up... When you think of big names in soccer to come from St.Louis names like Steve Ralston, Pat Noonan, Taylor Twellman or Brad Davis may come to mind. Or even more recently with Tim Ream, rookie defender for the NY RedBulls and possibly a defensive spot with the USMNT in the future. AJ Cochran might only be a senior at CBC, but this 6 ft 2 in, 190 lbs defender could be the next big name to come out of St.Louis. 18 year old in St. Louis who's poised for the next level of amateur soccer in the United States.
http://floodplainfooty.wordpress.com/2010/09/06/what-a-very-strange-season/ Serious rumors are flying about our ownership in the strangest damned season I've ever been witness to!
It just keeps getting weirder. Today's news: http://floodplainfooty.wordpress.com/2010/09/08/ussf-div-2-news-update/ The other day's news: http://floodplainfooty.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/ussf-div-2-update-nasl-to-submit-league-bid/ only one of these will win out.... I think what we now know as Div II could very well be gone next year.

Sometimes in soccer a player can really hit his or her stride. For Tom Heinemann, it appears that stride is been on for a couple years now and there’s a feeling we haven’t seen an end to his upward career. Tom was born in St.Louis and went to high school at CBC. After high school he attended Rockhurst University were he was selected for the NCAA Div II All American Team his Sophomore and Junior years. During that time he also played for the St.Louis Lions where he scored a remarkable 35 times in 36 games over the course of 3 seasons. The 6’4″ forward was signed in 2009 to the Charleston Battery of the USL. This season with the Battery he scored seven goals and had 5 assists while leading the team to the USL 2 Championship and was named MVP with his 2 assists. The Carolina Railhawks picked him up to help boost their squad for the final 6 weeks of the season and the playoffs. Tom was kind enough to answer a few questions for us. Here’s how it went….
So here we are. It’s the Monday after the last match of the inaugural season of AC St. Louis playing in the USSF Div II Pro League, the NASL conference. I’ve been around minor league sports for almost twenty years now, and this was the damndest season I’ve ever been privy to. However, it was also one of the most fun. As we’ve all heard, there’s been turmoil surrounding the entire season. The Vaids walked out, the Athletica had to fold,...
Just wondering. When will you find it whether the team will return for the 2011 season? This year was an "intermediate" year is that right with a compromise one season league? Presumably a lot will depend on who controls the division next season?
We don't know for sure right now. I know that the front office is preparing for next year. I believe that as soon as the United States Soccer Federation announces who has control over Division II, and it goes our way, there will be an announcement and contracts signed for next season.

More info on the local goings on... Since I’m very behind on the final Section 20 report of the season, I’d like to address this particularly hot topic as best as I can today. That is the question that I keep hearing over and over. What the hell is going on? Right now, I have no earthly idea. I have a hypothesis right now, but that’s it. I’ll get to it in a little bit, but right now I want to tell everybody that as soon as anyone knows anything, it will be out there as soon as something more than an idea is known. I think that this all hinges on the NASL, at least for us....more
Yesterday after checking the What’s On TV post, and I noticed that last night we’d be able to watch Real Salt Lake of the MLS taking on Cruz Azul of the FMF in the CONCACAF Champions League. My first thought was, will we get to see Gil, Schuler, or Warner? Well if you follow our Facebook or our Twitter Feed you know what I saw….and maybe you caught some of the game. As we all are, I’m pining for AC St. Louis....MORE
The Floodplain Footy talks to Mike "Timber Killer" Ambersley: The inaugural season for AC St.Louis is over now and the team definitely had it’s ups and downs on the field and off. There were a few bright spots for the team, that’s for sure, and one of them was Forward Mike Ambersley. Mike recorded the teams first hat trick, was named the USSF Div II Player of the Month for July and ended the season among the division leaders in goals scored with 9, a personal best for his professional career. He was also awarded the St.Louligan 2010 Offensive Player of The Year Award, which was presented by us here at the Floodplain Footy.
More info on the indoor soccer team! This Saturday I had the opportunity to watch the Piasa FC Premier training session. I also finally got to meet Matt Williams, the GM and owner of the Piasa FC and the Illinois Piasa. he and head coach, Jerry Lakin, were both very gracious and accommodating to me. When Jerry saw that I was taking pictures behind the glass, he and Matt insisted that I take my pictures from on the field....MORE
My condolences, Battra. I heard the sad news about AC St. Louis. I'm a born & bred St.Louisan, now living in Columbia, MO, and supporting Sporting KC (the team formerly known as the Wizards) and Blackpool. I just joined the forum and was surprised to find another Missourian active in the Blackpool area. I just started following Blackpool this fall. Having friends in various countries who follow the EPL, I decided to take the plunge myself, and had to pick a team. I'm not sure what prompted me to look at Blackpool, but there was initial attraction because tangerine is my favorite color. It also seemed appropriate to follow a team that was just beginning a new career in the premier league. After hours of internet research, I knew the Seasiders were my team. The spirit of the team, the supporters, the management, all of it just drew me in and I was committed before I ever saw them play. It's been a challenge to keep up, but worth it because the team is so entertaining to watch, and the drama of relegation keeps me from getting apathetic. I still have dreams of an MLS team for my home town. In a city that breeds soccer players like other places in Missouri breed cows, it's so unfortunate that pro soccer has suffered so many setbacks over the years.
