That was also a good one, though.

There were 2 times I was billed over $8 k for ambulance service. I politely told them to pound sand and to resubmit the proper paperwork!

Medical bills are the number one reason individuals file for bankruptcy.

I assume it was contractual, but don't know enough to really know. Still, that is one hell of a reduction (edit to add, I am happy about that, even if it should have been expected).

When my Billie had to have both legs amputated just above the knees I got to see the hospital billing paperwork. It was 14 pages [both sides] of Greek scribbling undecipherable by me. Fortunately Medicare was able to remove the double and triple billing for procedures hidden throughout the bill. :whistling:

I slipped and fell on a shoreline path north of SFO early this year. Amusing in a way given all the high altitude trekking I do. Took the first ambulance ride of my life and ended up with 12 stitches in the ER. Two ambulances showed up within a few minutes, both from the same ambulance company. And Medicare got billed for two ambulances... they correctly declined one set of identical charges. I mean, when I called 911 I didn't request they send two ambulances. But I guess the positive thing I learnt is that if you're going to have a stupid fall, do it near a major airport. The response time was fantastic.

A friend of mine was injured falling from a ladder on an ill-advised home DIY project. An ambulance showed up. He was placed in said ambulance. Said ambulance wouldn't start. Another ambulance was called. He was taken to the hospital and started on the long road to recovery.

The first ambulance tried to bill him. Luckily, he had enough sense to tell them to F right off.

    I agree.

And it's about to get worse if the new administration starts making "cuts".

Wait, you don't realize having fewer employees working for Medicare and Medicaid won't make them more efficient?

Why, last time I was waiting in line at the DMV, I was thinking, you know what would get me out of here sooner? FEWER EMPLOYEES! I can't wait for Ramaswamy and Musk to work their genius magic.

LBJ was a mega-corrupt sociopath, as is the mainstream of the democratic party & all republicans except for a few libertarian or paleocon types, who are narcissists. That's what a system of bribery by entities like UHC naturally vomits out.

And the vast majority of people in the public with the view that both these things were bad don't even bother to support the sub-sect of the democratic party (Bernie, Kucinich, Marianne, etc.), let alone a third party, who'd eliminate this problem. They need not be heard from on this.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable" - that guy who LBJ replaced that had the violence done upon him, & btw said this:

It will just lead to greater security for the people who make the decisions. For example, college students can bring guns into the classroom in Texas, but don't try to bring guns into Congress or the metal detectors will find you.

No, it should give Dr Oz more pause for intending to do what he was before. The one thing sociopaths respond to is the potential of losing something themselves.

There are a lot of people making excuses as to why it's actually good to do nothing to combat oppression, or even reinforce it. "All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing". This is giving grace these arguments are being made by mostly good men in good faith.

BTW, you didn't address if you're just another one of these people supporting the corrupt politicians. In which case, nobody should listen to anything you have to say what anyone should do about it. Cuz you at least have to be contributing that little to resolving the problem.

My Billie needed to go from hospital to other facility for special treatment. Ambulance took her to wrong facility 20 mi in opposite direction...then 20 mi back to hospital and then 20 more to correct facility then back again to hospital...all different vehicles and crew. When medicare denied their attempt to collect on their screw up they sent me the bill That was one of the $8k bills.

We don’t know if it’s in the “not necessarily justifiable” Bracket yet. Perhaps not in the eyes of the law. But!

Now they charge for said lollipops At the normal 1,000% medical mark up.

I read my insurance contract, called their office to check and found I was covered for hearing aids. Nice pair that hook the TV right into them as well as my phone. Then in between me checking and going for hearing tests a fitting, they changed their plan and denied my coverage of around 2k
yep, UHC. of course we appealed and surprise. They paid up.

another thing we found. I was getting too expensive to keep around. With my Pacemaker, Trip to the ER for a day out. The prescription prices for Entresto, Jardiance, insulin etc, etc. So we wrote to Peace Health and UHC and let them know.
Result was a discharge of all hospital and medical debt. $266K. Hospital bill and all prescriptions. For 2 years. Reviewable after that upon request. Can’t complain too much

Except when it's gun-related murder of the uber-rich.

Then the left cheers it on and doesn't even have compassion for the kid(s) who'll grow up without a dad.
