I'm surprised I'm not seeing this anywhere because this is rather huge. A CEO murdered in broad daylight in Manhattan and I'm not seeing it or I'm missing something. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/unitedhealthcare-ceo-fatally-shot-ny-post-reports-2024-12-04/
And the Anthem CEO should consider hanging out in one of his bulletproof yachts for a while too. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Won’t Pay for the Complete Duration of Anesthesia for Patients’ Surgical Procedures
I saw a tweet showing comments from TikTok about them mocking the CEO. Not surprised. Again, there's a reason Bernie Sanders has been popular the last few years.
I represent UHC's Medicare plans. Although I had never had any contact with him, my manager has, and had nothing but good things to say. He has a wife and young children.
As awful as it is that his family has to go through that, I doubt most people will be sympathetic to him. And given a lot of the comments I'm seeing online, it's ranging from indifferent to outright mockery.
Is that a fixie? Get thee to Neuw Brooklein stat, NYPD! These are additional images of the suspect sought in connection to this morning's homicide. It's like when that submersible imploded. When people laugh when the uber-rich die, they don't realize their money still won't go to those who desperately need $5.
I'm not going to say that murder is justified, but when a big corporation makes decisions that negatively impact folks, and the courts are not seen as a useful option for restitution (either they take too long or they're corrupt and side with the big corporation), people might take drastic action. I'm surprised nobody took a shot at Trump until 2024, given his decades of ********ing people over and hiding behind the courts. Maybe shitty CEOs should be on notice.
I wonder if this will be framed in the usual "NYC crime-infested city" rhetoric by the usual suspects when the shocking footage that is already circulating online suggests a professional hit. Use of a silencer and he seems to collect the shell casings as he is carrying out his execution.
Just to note, the $UNH was up just less than 1% today. I would have thought the stock would drop, but nope.
There was a scare a few years ago that caused us to have FBI outside our corporate offices. This is just an escalation of a common threat.
I would bet this person had a loved one who died because they were denied healthcare from UH. Wait until Trump and his minions eliminate the ACA and Medicaid.
If anything, people don’t like hubris. And a lot of billionaires have it. I’m sure people would be laughing if some billionaire tried to do an Icarus.
Possibly a coordinated effort. Shooter knew where and when victim was exiting. Also, no hesitation on who to shoot despite coming up from behind 20 ft away (edit: shooter let victim pass him on sidewalk then shot him in back). Shooter was proficient as cleared jammed firearm twice and fired calmly. Also, shooter dropped cell phone and water bottle. That was sloppy but not sure if phone burner or personal.
Maybe the Board wants to get rid of the CEO, but don't want to pay him the golden parachute, so they hired an assassin.
There is an investigation going on with the CEO and other execs on possible insider trading from last February. There was also a cursory mention of an ongoing divorce. Plenty of things to look at.
