not quite the same. I think that Lara is right by not putting Rodallega above the team, but to have him on the bench against Argentina for the whole game was not good. I read in www.supergol.com that Rodallega was injured. I cut out for lunch and went to see the game at home. Colombia played well, but as usual they stop playing in minute 90....and Argentina minute 93....hence the difference.

Otalvaro, besides his goal (a beauty), was not around in the 2nd half. Renteria was tired of being alone and Zuniga and Messi were VERY impressive!

Fifa went a little bit ahead of themselves....

    http://www.fifa.com/en/news/feature/0,1451,108022,00.html?articleid=108022

"The heavyweights did not disappoint in Emmen and Doetinchem on 22 June, as Argentina, Spain, Nigeria and the hosts Holland all progressed to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Youth Championship Netherlands 2005. The real success story belongs to Europe, though, with four of the old continent's seven representatives safely through to the last eight, after only Spain made it to the same stage in 2003. "

Only to find out that South America and Africa still rule at this level....

    http://www.fifa.com/en/comp/index/0,2442,108151,00.html?comp=WYC&year=2005&articleid=108151

"The European contingent arrived at the FIFA World Youth Championship Netherlands 2005 with lofty ambitions. At the 2003 tournament in the United Arab Emirates, the giants of the Old Continent were below strength as clubs retained key players for the busy November and December programme, but this time all the most promising starlets were on hand. However, the dreams have crumbled to dust as all the European contenders failed to make the last four."

I'm still pissed off about Colombia getting beat by Argentina! FIFA has to come up with a better point system for 2nd round play next time around.

I'm pretty proud of these youngsters though!!

Conspiracy! They didn't want 3 South American teams and Spain in the semis again so they fixed the brackets and knockout stages. Those are the best 4 teams in the tournament. Puulleease, Morocco and Nigeria! Colombia could have beaten both of them easily.
