After yesterday...Trumps going to have to start worrying about his own pardons rather than his transactional associates.
So the prosecutor in the stone case just quit. Yesterday he recommended 9 years. Today DOJ reverses that decision but yes...both sides are the same.
And the thing is, they will never ever admit to a difference. Trump is counting on that, and so far he has yet to be wrong.
The fact the Mueller remained and remains silent on this is the attorney equivalent of “I was just following orders” cop out
So the Judge raged against the dying of the light in the Stone sentencing. Excerpt posted via this justice Journo from CNN Just got the transcript from the Roger Stone sentencing. Judge Amy Berman Jackson spoke for almost an hour--with an intensity I don't think we've seen before--before sentencing Stone. This was clearly the peak of her speech: pic.twitter.com/N1tcR4nPLt— Katelyn Polantz (@kpolantz) February 21, 2020
Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! FBI summary of interviews with Rick Gates, Trump 2016 deputy campaign manager, indicates that Sean Hannity and Paul Manafort were in frequent communication and that "during the campaign, Hannity, tailored his shows to the agenda Manafort suggested" https://t.co/d7y3vBXJ8k— Matthew Gertz (@MattGertz) March 3, 2020
I have wondered exactly how the wingnut-o-sphere achieves alignment between russian disinfo networks, the wingnut tech-stack (breitbart etc), the campaign etc etc
Booster rocket🚀to add to Judge Walton's conclusions about Barr's misrepresentations of #MuellerReport in Barr's summary:1. Barr's summary letter was not just for the public. It was a formal statement sent to Congress!2. Intentional false statement to Congress is a crime! https://t.co/uJIUlsHRr6— Ryan Goodman (@rgoodlaw) March 5, 2020 I’m interested in the mechanics of how this would, likely will, play out. Judge has all but accused the AG of a federal crime and is demanding to see an un-redacted version of the report. surely Barr/DOJ will refuse. At which point the judge holds Barr in contempt? What then? Arrested? By whom? Let’s say they turn over the report. Evidence of deliberately misleading congress will be overwhelming. Indictment? Who would indict? there will also likely be evidence of redactions that were clearly politically based rather than for the legally acceptable reasons. The redaction footnotes will be clear lies. again - same question? In a normal world, Barr would be impeached and removed in a 100-0 vote in the senate, and then prosecuted. But how do you prosecute the head of the DOJ while he’s in office?
Win Prez & Senate to start. Then a massive amount of reform legislation with Dem Congress post-Trumpocalypse. Like post-Nixon times a zillion. Next president would have to want it, of course.
Ratfcker Roger back in the news: WASHINGTON (AP) — Weeks after Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel in the Russia investigation, Roger Stone, a confidant of President Donald Trump, reassured WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in a Twitter message that if prosecutors came after him, “I will bring down the entire house of cards," according to FBI documents made public Tuesday. The records reveal the extent of communications between Stone and Assange, whose anti-secrecy website published Democratic emails hacked by Russians during the 2016 presidential election, and underscore efforts by Trump allies to gain insight about the release of information they expected would embarrass Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. https://www.insider.com/fbi-documents-reveal-communication-between-stone-assange-2020-4
DOJ saying No Mas William Barr’s Justice Department (but not the prosecutors on the case) told a federal judge it doesn’t believe it can prove a charge that Mike Flynn HAS ADMITTED TO IN OPEN COURT.— Ken Dilanian (@KenDilanianNBC) May 7, 2020
I don’t think I will ever be able to maintain friendly terms with anyone that voted for trump...hell...with any republican. I just can’t. This three and half years has simply been too much. You elected a career mafia money launderer as president...and supported him throughout. ******** you. ******** you all.
I SWEAR...Those scumbags should not get away with murder.... They need to be investigated and indicted. Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI about his illicit Russian contacts. His lies do not now become truths. This dismissal does not exonerate him.But it does incriminate Bill Barr.In the worst politicization of the Justice Department in its history.— Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) May 7, 2020
I’m following this debate on twitter. I’ve got nothing to add other than I’m following this debate on twitter. And I just ran out of tonic.
I just want to know where all of our principled conservative leaders & Law & Order libertarians are on this? Composing sternly worded thinkpieces on medium
