hey i was at the stadium and couldnt watch it on TV, i'm watching the repeat on MSG at midnight; anyways to any1 who watched the game by television, when JP and shemp opened the show i was confused was it an MLS show for the MEtros or a NHL show for the Devils, reason why im confused is thatall they rolled was highlights of the Devils game 7 and messing commentating on the best goalie of NHL supposedly; im not complaining and i want Jersey to win the Stanley and all; but was any else kinda weirded out about that?
They were just trying to have some fun by comparing the two teams (ex. Brodeur=Howard, Stevens=Pope). Only complaint I have about the MSG broadcast is that they didn't interview Forschetti and Galvan. How hard would it have been to get a translator? Seems like the cameramen made more of a painstaking effort than ever before not to show any crowd scenes (or lack thereof) or anything above the 3rd row.
I agree. It's ok to draw comparisons between the two styles of play as well as a few players, but they showed Devils highlights without showing any Metro highlights. I think they were trying to get the hockey fans who may have tuned in to relate to the Metros, but by not showing any soccer, they blew it.
Anyone else annoyed by all the off the ball reaction shots? Example: Burn make an attack that's broken up by the Metros who start getting the ball up the field. Shep: Good one-touch pass by Kreis, he's such a dangerous player in that situation. Camera goes away from the action for a lingering close up of Kreis jogging back to the the center line...FINALLY back to the ball as Guevara's pass right outside the box is broken up. Same crap all last year, director does not know his business. God bless MSG for airing the games at all though, with a pregame show and the Metro soccer report.
Plus they had interviews with Jolley and Howard afterwards. Steve Cangelosi even had the balls to ask Timmy about the ManUtd rumers.
I think it's amusing how they make a concerted effort not to show the ESC at all...I did only see the second half, but you'd think it would be a natural to get a camera shot of them when the Metros score...
Last night was one of MSG's weaker productions this season. Part of that was just plain bad luck -- they didn't have good camera angles on the Gbandi back pass, Mathis goal, or Clark hand ball. But even beyond that, Steve C. had nothing to talk about other than the MUFC rumors even though there clearly was no additional news to report since the MSR on Thursday night. And Shep has fallen in love with his own analysis. MSG has never interviewed live a player who didn't speak fluent English.
Shep jsut talks to talk a lot of the time... his comment that with pope in the back, Jolley has had more freedom to go forward that in prior years with Petke was just plain wrong because Jolley played many games on the outside and went forward often. I don't know why he had to elaborate like that, just saying that Pope is so dependable that it gives Jolley a bit more offensive leeway is quite enough.
Why did it take balls to ask about the Man. U. rumors? It was Timmy, not Roy Keane, someone who might actually punch a reporter. Anyone else think Shep is just horrid as a color guy? Seriously, he's horrible. Someone get Tab in there full-time.
They only want to show brats waving at the camera. The kind that pay no attention to the game when it's being played.
They are seriously in need of a camera up and behind the net, an end-zone shot. It would have provided a far better look at some of those goals on Saturday.
I pick up the MLS games on my Shootout package, which I am very happy to have at such a bargain price. One thing I've noticed, though, over the last three or four weeks I guess, is that the sound and video are not coordinated during the pre-game and halftime commentaries. It's no big deal; I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this glitch.
They need to filter out all the damn horn blowing. You can't hear anything else. It would be nice to hear the crowd once in a while. If MSG wants people to tune into the games, it would help if they get rid of those horns. If I wasn't such a Metro fanatic, I probably wouldn't be able to put up with having my living room filled with that wretched noise.
It's the same on my Shootout -- I think it's probably during the game, too, but since you don't see the announcers talking as the game's going on, you don't notice it's out of sync.
I was going to say the same exact thing. It was getting to the point (watching the replay) that I was going to turn the sound down or shut off the game entirely. It makes listening a chore, and if I was just a casual fan tuning in, I too would turn it off after about 30 seconds of that horrific din. As I recall, Dallas and LA used to be the worst in the league with the plastic horns. Now it's us, and that's nothing to be proud of.
