so any word on how the battle rages on (or ends)? also curious if anyone caught a glimpse of the sign that took me 4 hours to make? photos? i just want to see it from someone else's POV. STAND UP SPEAK UP. a double edge sword if you will - fighting the racism that CC displayed, as well as sending a message to the FO that we wont take their sh!t anymore.
the sign was contradictory to the message that the the fort was trying to send. it was kind of confusing.
haha. it was a nice sign though and I'm not going to argue its message as it was a good one. It was kind of the perfect storm of protests. One thing that we were upset about (F.O.) required us to sit down and be quiet and the other thing we were upset about (racism) requires us to stand up and speak up.
i saw it from my seat and in retrospect its juxtaposition with the protest is fitting. at my school we had a "day of silence" to protest homophobia. the idea was to symbolize gays who are forced to live in silence
I'm going to assume you're joking, cause there's a very real answer to that question I can take off-board if you're not.
MR v FO soccer game challenge Date: TBD Time: TBD Location: TBD (Foxboro practice field?) Play ball ...
Watch out for Burnsie. Especially if you're sitting in the 7th row (and not directly behind the goal).
sign was fine. unfortunatly, the protest was about the FO and the fort's tifo efforts. from the outside looking in, if I didn't know what the protest was, I would say it made the protest look like it was about racism. No offense, but you kind of stole/co-opted the moment from the what it was intended to be.
Of course, some might say that fighting racism is a slightly higher cause than fighting the front office over tifo.... I know what you're saying though, it was confusing no doubt. This is the crux of being in the fort. We are not of one mind. It would have been great if we decided to do something positive about racism on national TV as a group, and I congratulate Fiero20 and friends on their effort. Note: I will say that I consider the "Stand Up, Speak Up" campaign great, but since it is based in Europe, the message was lost. Similar to people wanting to make Tifo-protest signs comparing Gillette to Wembley. The average fan or announcer has no idea what you are referring to. I'm not in the business, but it seems that you need to market to a broader audience Example: a sign saying "End Racism Now" would be pretty clear to all.
agree on all fronts. Especially that that message is very important. It's a shame the two had to coincide. The racism one is important. especially since it's one of the first big well publicized fan incidents
FWIW the "stand up speak up" idea was already in the works before the protest was mentioned... it seemed silly to stop our effort (and waste the money and time) so thats why. plus the fact that most people were sitting down in protest so the sign would be visible easier. i understand the confusion but its a shame that the two had to coincide like that. so do we get to have some TIFO yet or what?
