[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8PAf9RrCe0"]YouTube - Honduras Qualifies To The 2010 World Cup[/ame] Pay attention to the last part of the video too
The last minutes of the game on Honduran tv: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfzYIRYdrOA&feature=channel"]YouTube - Estados Unidos contra Costa Rica en el 2 a 2 parte 2[/ame] Fast forward to the 6:50 mark for an incredibly emotional call from Honduran announcer.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjOv0rJYyF8&feature=player_embedded#"]YouTube - Honduras qualificado por el mundial en South Africa[/ame] I think this is the reaction of the commentators to the US game during the El Salvador - Honduras game, which had just finished.
This whole qualifying cycle has been pretty crazy... I am always amazed at how close we come to not qualifying in the end. I always root for the CONCACAF teams in the World Cup, so hopefully Costa Rica can beat Uruguay. They have a better chance than the Catrachos would have I think. That turf in Saprissa is going to give Uruguay nightmares.
so hondurans had our game available on national tv? we shoulda sold to a cctv company in honduras and forced them to watch this at a bar
and also didn't ya guys sort of wanted Honduras eliminated. Becuase even before they played the U.S. they talked a bunch of crap. In fact when they were first place, they claimed they were the best team in the hex and said they were going to embarress the U.S. All I'm saying is Hondurians talk more shit than Costa Ricans, they get more big headed. But it doesn't matter anymore.
Never have so many owed so much to ... Jonathan Bornstein At least he is now a Honduran national hero
This isn't really about that. It's about the raw emotion and passion of a country going to the World Cup after a long time. You can't help but to love it. Showed these videos to some co-workers who don't follow the sport - they get it now.
Good point. Although I think Honduras has the better team, Saprissa is a big home field advantage. Still hope to see CR get into WC10, as it will help the region get better recognition and ranking points. Besides rooting for Honduras, I also have a soft spot for Amado Guevara, who was the Red Bulls best player for a long time. Too bad he didn't always bring it, but hopefully their team can do them justice in South Africa.
That is their nature. They win one game and they think they are best. That is why they never get no where. They talked the same crap in the U-20 cup when they won the first game. Then they lost all remaining games. Don't be surprised when one of their players will say: "We are going to win the World Cup."
You get your good and the bad in all type of footy followers from Catracho land, here in Houston at least, the Catrachos are pretty cool about their following of the game. I know many that follow their league, MLS and so on. Over the years the constant talk from them was always more about "when are we ever going back to the Mundial?". I mean the charla (chats) around the pick up games at the local park, everyone used to haze them on that Trinidad loss in the '01 Hex so these many years on I have to say good for them and their people's celebrations!
I posted earlier that Borstein was offered a free paid trip to the Bay Islands. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.diez.hn%2FInicio
it does make you feel good that us as a soccer commmunity supported our national team to a win and our team coming back from down 2 to leveling the game in the final minute of stoppage time. And in return it helped a team that hasn' been to teh world cup in over 2 decades get there. I belive this is the start of a beautiful friendship..hahahahahha...just kidding USA owns all!
