Posted by Canuckfan in the other thread:

Maycoll Canizales has had a setback with an injury while with the Hannover 96 senior team. Meanwhile, Nik Ledgerwood and another amateur team mate (Christoph Jancker - was with the German U20s) are training with the big boys at 1860 Muenchen.

Canizales has to have the worst luck of any of the Canucks abroad. Good news about Ledgerwood, one of the bright lights of the U-20s.

I think the Cleveland State player in question is Stephen Ademolu of Trellborgs in Sweden (though apparently the bigger clubs of Sundsvall in Sweden and Tromso in Norway are interested acquiring him on a transfer).

Yes I was thinking the same thing about MC2. Speaking of U20 check out DM's Inside Soccer interview about the WYC.

    Tks to Dandal at Vs

Stephen Ademolu will be joining Tromso (Norwegian Tippeligaen) (1) at the end of Trelleborg's (Swedish Superettan) (2) season. It's a three year deal starting January 1st 2006. Also presently at Tromso is Patrice Bernier rumoured to be heading to greener pastures.

assists for Trelleborg i Superettan denne sesongen.

Canilzales was initially thought to have a tear, turns out to be a strain. He is good to go with the senior team this weekend in a pair of exhibition games. Good news.

Maycoll Canizales played the 2nd half yesterday and the 2nd game today (in the mini-game Oddset Cup tournament) scoring the 2nd goal for Hannover in their second win of the day. Hopefully he'll be able to make the big jump from reserves to full team this summer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hannover 96 (gegen Hildesheim): Juric, Dietwald, Marheineke, Zuraw, Halfar (ab 30. Balitsch), Lala, Canizales-Smith, Schulz, Jusufi, Montabell, Hahne

    Tore: 1:0 Schulz (12., EM nach Foul an Hahne), 2:0 Canizales-Smith (19.), 3:0 Montabell (45.)

Still rumour, there were plenty last year about Hume but I get the feeling this might be the one. Might be a good option for him as well aside from the obvious moving up a division. Also part-time BCer Paul Sturrock loves us Canadians.

I am not sure if Petro is still with Cruz Azul, but Rivas I hear is now in Chile Colo-Colo on trail. I heard from a very reliable source and I do not have a link. I will look out for one however. So at the moment I believe he should be on the "unconfirmed location" list. But it is up to you Joe.

It is good to read that Maycoll Canizales is back playing and I hope he does make the big jump from the reserves to the first team.

BTW does anyone know when the MLS draft was or going to happen? If it did already happen does someone have link of which canadians were drafted?

Tks for that. I was just thinking about those guys the other day and as we don't get any news about them I was wondering if they were still around. I'll have a look around Colo Colo and Cruz Azul as well and see if I can dig anything up.

Do you speak/read Spanish? I've been trying to get some news about U17 Derek Gaudet trialing at Boca Juniors.

    http://www.bocajuniors.com.ar/

About MC2 I was at the Hannover site yesterday and he has been getting some time (usually 45 min halves) with the big team. I posted something about guys who haven't been seen with the CMNT lately and he was a guy I forgot to mention. Hope he gets a chance with the senior team (96 and Canada)

    Wednesday chasing Tranmere star Hume
    Ian Appleyard

    http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=117&ArticleID=1087468

SHEFFIELD Wednesday could step up their bid to sign Tranmere's Iain Hume after losing winger Jon-Paul McGovern for the first six weeks of the season.
McGovern, who played every game last season as the Owls won promotion to the Championship, has been ordered to rest a back injury following a visit to a specialist.

The news leaves manager Paul Sturrock without a naturally right-footed replacement, although striker Adam Proudlock and left-winger Chris Brunt could both step into the breach.

Canadian international Hume is valued at £500,000 by Tranmere but Owls chairman Dave Allen has indicated a willingess to loosen the purse strings this week to ensure the club maintains forward momentum.

Sturrock described McGovern's injury as "a huge blow" but revealed the player had been struggling with 'bulging discs' towards the end of last season.
Several other players are also struggling to be fit for the start of the season with Sturrock blaming the demands of the club's late finish to the previous campaign as a key factor.

You guys can add Carlos Rivas to the list of Canadians abroad.
This guy is training with La Serena (a 1st division club)--apparently he has impressed the coaching staff.
There is a problem, though, since he is Canada-born (to Chilean Parents, nonetheless) he has to wait six moments to gain Chilean citizenship (I guess it would be dual citizenship, then?? Don't know if we got a treaty w/ Canada on that?).
His father played for Chile in the early 80s, and a free kick goal of his sealed our qualification to the 82 WC.
His father namesake also runs some soccer schools in T.O.
Anybody ever heard of the two?

Canizales is still playing with the big boys in Hannover, starting the last exhibition game mid-week. His goal in the oddset cup was the talk of the Hannover message boards. Early to say whether he makes the jump yet though.
Nik Ledgerwood and his other WYC teammates (Janker and Adler with Germany's U20s) are training with the 1860 Muenchen full team and Nik will be wearing number 25 on the bench vs Werder Bremen in their next friendly:

    Likely Lineup: 1 Hofmann – 2 Lamotte, 44 Hoffmann, 7 Costa, 35 Schäfer – 23 Vucicevic, 19 Lehmann, 3 Meyer, 14 Gebhardt – 9 Reisinger, 18 Agostino.
    Bench: 12 Ochs – 4 Lanzaat, 5 Komljenovic, 8 Shao, 11 Kolomaznik, 13 Cerny, 17 Krontiris, 21 Janker, 24 Baier, 25 Ledgerwood, 26 Milchraum, 30 Szukala, 33 Davids.
    Missing: 6 Tyce, 28 Ojigwe

Tks E. Keep it comin, hopefully we'll get some good news. I remember reading somewhere (or Inside Soccer?) where FY said Nik could be the next young player to play with the Nats. Would like to see MC2 as well. Was it the Gold Cup where he unleashed a rocket on a rope. One of the hardest shots I think I've seen.

Hey Joe. Move Amir Haroon from U19 (A-Jugend) to U23 (reserves/amateur) at Energie Cottbus.
Here's a snippet from the 'Amateure' section of fcenergie.de:

    MITTELFELD
Name Vorname Geboren Nationalität Bisherige Vereine
Haroon Amir 28.08.86 Kanada Eigene Jugend
Hoßmang Martin 09.09.86 Deutschland Eigene Jugend

That list has surname, first name, born, nationality and previous team (eigene jugend means 'our own youth team'. Can post the full team if you need it.

The new entry (in your format) should read:

Amir Haroon - Energie Cottbus Amateurs - Oberliga Nordost - Staffel Sud (4)

Oberliga Nordost Süd - Saison 2003/04

    http://www.rsssf.com/tablesd/duit4-05.html
    Nordost Nord
    1.Hansa Rostock (A) 32 23 4 5 93:20 73
    -----------------------------------------------------
    2.MSV Neuruppin 32 21 6 5 68:23 69 Promotion Playoff
    6.Berliner FC Dynamo 32 15 11 6 46:28 56
    7.FC Energie Cottbus (A) 32 16 5 11 60:45 53

Can they change divisions not via pro/reg or is one of these sources wrong? Tks.

    Cruz Azul coach feared kidnapped
    Associated Press
MEXICO CITY -- The Argentine coach of the Cruz Azul soccer team was attacked and feared kidnapped Tuesday as he left a practice facility on the Mexican capital's southern outskirts.

Ruben Omar Romano, 47, was forced from his gray BMW van by five armed assailants who swarmed the area in several vehicles as he left the team's La Noria sports complex. Mexico City police said they could not confirm Romano had been abducted, but they did not know where he was. Cruz Azul vice president Alfredo Alvarez told a local radio station that five men forced the coach into a vehicle and drove away.

Romano took over a struggling Cruz Azul in December 2004 and guided the squad to a speedy turnaround that included several weeks in first place of the Mexican League. Romano's team was eliminated by another Mexico City powerhouse, America, the eventual champion, in the playoffs.

    So much for my predictions...

    Wednesday scrap move for Hume

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/4699989.stm

Sheffield Wednesday have pulled out of a proposed £500,000 move for Tranmere forward Iain Hume after failing to agree personal terms.

"The fee was agreed," Owls chief executive Kaven Walker told Sheffield Wednesday's official website.

"But unfortunately after several attempts to negotiate with the player's agent we couldn't reach agreement."

Wednesday have also ended their interest in Rangers defender Maurice Ross, 24, due to wage demands.

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you and the sources are right.

The Northeast (Nordost) division of the Oberligen (level 4) has two 'subdivisions' so to speak, Staffel Nord and Staffel Sud (north and south).

Depending on which teams get relegated down to the Verbandsligen (level 5) from a geographic perspective, a team may avoid relegation but still be moved between the subdivisions to minimize travel. Last year, the Energie Cottbus reserves were in the north subdivision of the Oberliga Nordost, but have been slotted into the south subdivision of the Oberliga Nordost for this upcoming season.

South subdivision Table for this season:
Pl. Verein Sp. g. u. v. Tore Diff. Pkte.
    Sachsen Leipzig 0 0 0 0 0:0 0 0
    VFC Plauen 0 0 0 0 0:0 0 0

Does Michael Klukowski play any role on the Canadian National team? This year he will be starting at left back for Club Brugge.
