As just heard on Dutch radio, Advocaat has told the Dutch press he's made his mind up. According to Dutch footy journalists travelling with the Dutch NT it'll look like this (yes it's the infamous diamond midfield): Sar Reiziger-Stam-Bouma-Van Bronckhorst -----------------Cocu--------------- Sneijder----------------------- Davids --------------- Vd Vaart------------- --------------Kluivert, RvN----------- I'm not liking this at all I have to say.
I don't like Reiziger, first of all. I much prefer Heitinga. And I don't like the diamond thingie one bit anyway.
the reiziger for heitenga on the wingback has no effect on me - i do have a bit of an issue with heitenga missing out on the bouma spot - before johnny got hurt, he was an exciting RB - in rehab, he seemed to get much stronger all over and his attitude seemed to change - to me, he has redefined himself as a CB - as much as i appreciate an in-form bouma... he isnt exactly there at the moment and heitenga might be our best set piece defender i love the 442 diamond, but it is more appropriate for spain or france - ORANJE should not have this spacing - they should move as a compact group
I worry that there's not enough creativity in midfield. I can't see them creating much and RvN will not be fed. In short: I want to see Robben.
oh crap, i didnt notice that - hmmmm.... maybe he's not a 90 minute player yet - it still could be worse and the formation is more troubling than the selection - yet i'd prefer to bring sneijder on as a sub and he doesnt belong on the right - if for any odd reason, he is played out of the middle, it should be on the left... where robben should be... and davids is out of the middle... and... i think im getting dizzy - tricky dick has been playing too much euro2004 on Xbox
Do you lads reckon Cocu will play nearly every game in Euro 2004? and what about the same for van der Vaart? Either way, good luck vs Germany
cocu BETTER play every game - he's been the most consistent player we've had for many years VDV can certainly be pulled if he doesnt make things happen
Don't like it at all. My hope is that Dick is showing gamesmanship in telling the media one thing then doing the opposite. Like he said Kluivert and Ruud wouldn't play together against Scotland in the first leg and then did. Except this time the gamesmanship would be in order to help squad.
