What was the most important game you have attended? For me, it was attending the Benfica vs. Lazio Champions League game 3 years ago. Not happy with the result, but the atmosphere was awesome.
L.A. Galaxy vs Motagua in the CONCACAF Champion's Cup tournament. Not living in Europe, it's the best competition we've got here unfortunately.
AS Roma vs Inter Milan - 03.05.06 Inter ended Roma's record winning streak, sadly. My first time to Europe, and spent a week in Rome before the game, just awesome.
2003 Italian Supercoppa Amazing atmosphere and the penalty shootout was so dramatic. I don't really like Juve or Milan but it was nice to see so many international-level players on the pitch in America.
I was there also. Giants Stadium was filled with Juve and Milan fans. Sadly Milan gave up a 1-0 lead and lost on penalties...
Hard to say, I've been to an FA Cup Final (replay) and a Cup Winners Cup Final, Both 1993. Several World and European Qualifying Games. The 2-2 vs Greece at Old Trafford probably being the most important of those. Games at the 1996 and 2004 European Championships. Various games in the Uefa Cup and Champions League. Went to see PSV vs Vitesse last Season, which PSV won to win the League. But I think the most important game I've been to is Wantage Town 1-3 Banbury United, 26-04-2000. Banbury won the Hellenic League Premier Division Title with that result which meant promotion back to the Southern League after an absence of 10 years. Importence being a relative term in Football.
I didn't know who Maradona was when I saw him rip Greece a new one at Foxborough. Or Foxboro. Whatever. Here come the Pat fans...
2005 MLS Cup Galaxy vs. Revolution in Dallas. I thought the atmosphere was great...I cant imagine being at anything bigger...It really blows my mind to think about.
Derry City v Finn Harps in a promotion/relegation playoff a couple of years ago (note: Derry are the local rivals). We equalised in the last minute to force extra time - after 15 minutes they scored, we had two players sent off, and the manager sent from the dugout. "Collapse" springs to mind. They stayed up, we stayed down
Second legs of Australia's WC Qualifying Playoffs - against Iran in Melbourne (1997) and Uruguay in Sydney (2005). The first was the most heartbreaking match I've ever attended - the second was the most inspiring. In terms of title matches... probably Cameroon defeating Spain on penalties for the country's first ever Olympic gold medal (Sydney in 2000).
I have been to Brazil's last 4 World Cup Quarter Finals games (TST in 2002, luck the other three times). 1986 France 1994 Netherlands 1998 Denmark 2002 England I'm probably bias, but I think that the last three were the best game of their respective WC. The 1986 game had drama equaled only by the final that year.
Trinidad & Tobago 2-1 Mexico (Last match of WC qualifying hexagonal round) FAR AND AWAY MOST IMPORTANT! Also a couple games well in the 2001 U-17 World Cup Spain 2-4 Argentina (group game) Nigeria 0-3 France (FINAL) went to a fair few others at the tourney but those were the best games! Some notable players to have played in that tourney: - Carlos Tevez (Argentina) Fernando Torres (Spain) Diego (Brazil) Anthony Le Tallec (France) Florent Sinama-Pongolle (France) Mourad Meghni (France) Kenwyne Jones (Trinidad & Tobago) Living in Trini don't have that many options... BUT all will change in just under two months! World Cup tickets i got: - Trinidad & Tobago VS Sweden Spain VS Ukraine Trinidad & Tobago VS Paraguay
Lazio Vs. Club America @ San Jose a few years back, that was cool. Outside of soccer, I went to the game Barry Bonds hit his record breaking 71st and 72nd home runs. Absolutely amazing atmosphere. 71 came really close to me, I think my heart was beating out of my chest as it was flying through the air...
I attended the '94 World Cup Final. I talked about it a bit on another thread on this very subject about two years ago. I'll just repost it here instead of writing it all out.
