LA SER just said it tonight...Morientes received a great offer from Arsenal, he agreed and now just seems to be waiting for Florentino (or whoever) to win the elections and finish it up.

This would be a great loss, not that Ronaldo is not the best, but I am sure Camacho doesn't like this already. The biggest problem at Real now shifts from the defense to the offense. Real has no strikers. Ronaldo can't do it alone, Raul's shape and comeback is still to be seen, even Portillo has already decided that he wants and needs to go on loan, with several lower teams asking for him (Racing, Malaga, Zaragoza seem to be ahead). Camacho made the most logical and impressive effort to keep him, as he did with Roberto Carlos, but now it looks like that the new president's big signing will be a top level striker. I think we are going to hear about Van Nilsteroy(again) pretty soon...

ive heard great things about this Gilardino kid though.....if el Moro wants to leave, let him leave, dont want another Makelele situation to deal with a week before the season starts. lets get it out of the way early.

Good. Sell him and let him become a galactico with Monaco/Porto/Auxerre, or some team on that level before he can come back.

Isn't that what he did last year?

Anyways, sell Morientes and bring back Eto'o.

Ha, ha, no- he has to win the European Cup, and/or put in consecutive seasons at this past season's level.

Let him go if he wants and get back Eto'o or lets go for Gilardinho.

As totti2madrid said, make it all clear so early. So we can have enough time to deal with the situation.

Juventus is also trageting Gilardino. And Real Madrid offered £17.5m for both Daniele Bonera and Alberto Gilardino.

I have absolute no idea who is Daniele Bonera. He just turned 23 last month. He was a former U-21 international and capped by the senior team before.

From various sources, Gilardino is wanted by Man Utd, Roma, Barcelona, etc.

PLZ ..let this deal go through for Gilardino and Bonera.

Both are up and comers....Gilardino had a great season and Bonera is really good also. Bonera will be holding down a starting spot on Italy's defense before long. Bonera can play centre back but he is more comfortable as a right back in my opinion.

This is the kind of youth infusion Real needs.

i tottally agree with you... we need the old players to be surrounded with new fresh talent to motivate them to championships again.

Please excuse me for pokin my nose in your forum, but I must say I would be excited to see Morientes in the red and white of Arsenal. I do think he will be missed in Madrid (he was this past season, IMO), but Real will get by.

Would someone please give me the lowdown on Bonera and Gilardino are? I do think your stars need motivation.

Morientes would adapt to England from day one. He is all power in the air, can move with the ball at speed, and enjoys having a bit of freedom to make his game. Arsenal would be the best move. I would still want him in Real, as I have always liked him, but I would hate to see him in the bench another year as I did two seasons ago. Of course Ronaldo is better, but he doesn't deserve it, as he is also one of the best there are. The kind of year he had in the CL and in Monaco puts Van Nilsteroy light years behind him. However, VN would play (especially after RM had dropped 20-30 million for him), and he would not.

Gilardino we have all seen in Italy. Interesting player who's main virtue is his effectiveness and accuracy. As he develops he could become a great striker. He is no Torres or no Raul though,(Raul at the same age), in quality and ball control. It would cost Real quite a bit to bring him, as Portillo is loaned all over the place, so I don't really know what to say. I think Real would go for Totti instead, as he is tried and true and Gilardino is just going to become a rumour. Bonera would be something else, a smarter buy, as he plays in the back. Real needs youth there, players like him that can develop into solid defenders, and he wouldn't cost that much.

Morientes is obviously a significant loss, but a replaceable one. I think his game is greatly suited for the Premier League anyways, but Real now must find another striker without a doubt.

what i am hearing now is that morientes will not be going to arsenal since arsenal has already brought 2 new strikes from this year alone and also has renewed Bergkamp's contract for one more year. Therefore, reports are saying he will be out to Chelsea to link up wiht Crespo... does anyone have any info on this??

I also believed Gilardino won't be joining Real Madrid. He is now a hot prospect with so many Italian clubs banging his door. He is an Italian. he probably wanted to join a big Italian club. Plus, Real Madrid got Raul and Ronaldo up front. Players with his ability want to start every matches. He is not going to beat out Ronaldo or an in form Raul. Juventus had nobody up front. Gilardino can easily start there.... I read that he was born in Biella. I do not know Italian geography, but I only knew it is near Turin. So he could be a Juventus fan. It will be hard to beat out Juventus for his signature.

RVN should be the perfect person for Real. He will get a lot of tap-ins. Why doesn't that Beckham leave for Totti? Should be a sensible riddance.

Actually I don't think RVN is as bad as we make him out to be. I think Totti is a lot more overrated. Beckham out to leave but for a DM, not a Totti.

now i wouldnt go as far as calling the brother washed up, he had a bad game. yeah, ok, he didnt play well, he almost killed someone and spit in the face of a ref. it was just a game. if he would have had the chance to play all 3, we would see Italy advance. still, id rather have Totti versus any other "galactico" that we are considering.

Totti is a stud footballer just coming into his prime... he would fit into any club and flourish~ I do support Roma so I'd be gutted to see him leave, but when Madrid comes with their giant paycheck, there really isn't alot to do about it~~
please take our little money at arsenal for morientes!! please!!

    No, he really is.

He's not the kind of player that can create any chances for himself, he's the leech on the field that tries to suck away the glory of the other players who give him the passes a 90 year old grandmother can score and tries to appear like he is the one making a difference on the field, has a built-in b plan to dive whenever he can't leech from other players...dive badly, the only other thing he can do than make tap-ins is lose the ball to the opposing team upon contact, and he looks like a horse of course of course while doing all of these things.

I'd rather have Saez coach Madrid than this guy being on the bench, much less playing for Madrid.

totti's spitting antics in euro2004 have put me right off him. rvn is a lot better than people in this forum give him credit for. im a liverpool supporter as well as real and i depise man utd. howver i do watch them avery week on the tv and know enough to say ruud is a world class centre forward. however would ruud and ronaldo make the best partnership - answer no! they are too similar .
If we do sign him it will be awkward. , i just hope camacho can rotate ronaldo with him.

Totti has a bad character. However, I must admit, I would have loved somebody to have half of Totti's character at the end of last season. People red carding themselves (Zidane, Beckham) to escape the shame of a next game home are not showing the kind of character that Totti showed by spitting in the face of a Dane, as despicable and stupid as it was. This man lives for his club, for his team, you see him in the field, running, fighting, instructing his teammates, and spitting in the face of opponents. Real would have done better with a never giving up Totti than with a washed up Zidane.

It is the only reason why he scores so many goals in a league as hard as the Italian and not being a striker, he pushes forward like a train. He is also 28, in his prime. Zidane is going downhill already, and it will show sooner or later this next season. Totti is also a "galactico", as he is the best selling Italian player. As a "10", I've said this before, only Ronaldihno is better, so he is also at the top of his game. Totti would be a dream come true.

Morientes? He is the best 9 in Spain, and was the best 9 in Europe this year. He performed better than VnS, and even better than Ronaldo, as his goals, which were also in the high numbers, had much more value. Van Nilsteroy, the most probable signing by Real this summer, was nothing this year by comparison. If Arsenal gets Morientes, they would be making possibly the smartest move in Europe this year. Arsenal needs to get international titles, the promise for them is what makes Henry stay. Getting Morientes means getting the "9" with the most experience (and results), in Europe in the CL. A true guarantee of success, plus a great addittion to allow Arsenal to rape everybody else next year again in the Premier. I don't know if Morientes would feel so good as to be a top goal scorer, as he has never been, but you give him games, and he'll give 15 to 20 league goals a year, + CL and Cups. Strikers that guarantee this numbers are the ones that make the big bucks, and you can count them with your fingers.
