Moreno's continued nagging injuries have reared their ugly head again, which means Moreno will not be traveling with the team for their battle in New York, nor will he be available for United's remaining two home games.

Too bad that Jaime somehow lost his desire to play after the '99 season. I'm not really sure what happened to him.

Suck it up. And play. Convey is. And I imagine at this point in the season another half dozen are.

We sure do have some classy fans here..

Rip the guy because he's hurt..

Get well soon Jaime, and hire a personal trainer for next season....

Well, I guess that cinches it. Not much explanation as to why the nagging injuries are keeping him out for the rest of the year.

    Here's my F*ng lineup, you **** whiny ****. ;)

    ..............Rimando

    ....Reyes...Pope...Prideaux

    Olsen..Chino..Convey..Etch..Mapp

Ripping someone as a player, for the effort they have given this year, for their production this year, for their playing time this year is different than ripping them as a person. Jaime was a talented player but he has lost the drive and even admitted that he is scared to shoot to the ball. He has been having nagging injuries all year that have kept him out of important games. We enjoy the memories but have no desire to see him in the future, such is the world of sports.

I go to class and work everyday. Sometimes I'm sick and feel like ************. Sometimes I just don't want to go. But I go everyday. Because it's my job.

I've heard enough of "nagging" injuries. Suck it up and to go work. It's your job.

Thanks for the memories. Maybe you can join up with MAE in Yemen or wherever the hell the teams are that he always claims want him to play for him. He had a great past, and hopefully that's what most of us remember the most about him, because he sure has done ************ for us lately.

Can you imagine if we had been able to get Twellman this offseason and ditch Moreno? Top of the scoring charts instead of not even leading the worst offense in MLS history like DC is now. To make it even worse, instead of paying the lazy crap Jaime $270,000 or whatever we pay him, we could pay TT $24k. 24,000 DOLLARS. We would save almost $250,000 that could've been used for a whole crapload of new and better players. Ridiculous.

Thanks Jaime, you screwed the team when you were on the pitch (Columbus, San Jose..to name a few), and you're screwing us even more by spending most of the time off of it. Maybe if you took a little better care of yourself in the offseason you wouldn't have so many damn nagging injuries now would you? Or maybe if you weren't a whiny bitch about your injuries you could play through them more often like your 19 year old teammate Bobby Convey who is 10x the man you are or will ever be.

Jaime Moreno is probably the least deserving player ever to wear our Captain's armband, ESPECIALLY this year. He plays like a pussy ("I'm afraid to shoot the ball coach, but keep playing me please"), and always bitches about getting hacked when he hasn't even been on the field this year to get fouled. Or other teams don't bother to touch him because he misses empty net shots like against San Jose.

I couldn't care less about how nice of a guy he is. What sort of class he has. That's not the point I'm trying to make. Look at his numbers. Look how much of our salary cap we devote to him, one of the most pathetic jokes of a finisher this league has ever seen this year. What he did in the past was phenomenal. Probably the best striker we've ever had, and that's FABULOUS, WONDERFUL even. But you know what, we can't afford to pay for his crap ass pussy piece of ************ play anymore.

I can't think of one player who sets a worse example for his teammates as a veteran than Moreno. Why can't he be like Stoitchkov, who is older, more often injured, and still plays better when he is in and sets a wonderful example for all of the young people on his team to play.

You could've at least gone down fighting like Nelsen, who has considerably outscored you. Get the hell off of our team you piece of crap, I hope you never suit up for DC United again. And if you go to any other team in the league, for whatever low round draft pick we might be able to steal for you, I hope real men like Bobby Convey, Ivan McKinley, Ben Olsen, and Ryan Nelsen hack the crap out of you, end your ************ing pathetic career that it has become. At least then you could go down with some honor, some dignity. You wouldn't have to disgrace your new team and the league like you have us.

YOU ARE A HAS BEEN JAIME. GOOD ************ING BYE!! Give the #9 kit to someone who deserves it, I'd rather have Albright in your place right now. At least he shot the ball, and hard. Both of you might miss the goal regularly, but Chirs Albright tried. Can you imagine that? You're worse of a finisher than Chris Albright. What has your career come to?

Good luck in the Middle East, or some deserted Pacific island or wherever your sorry ass ends up trying to play again, you will need it.

Sorry for the length, language, etc. etc. of the above post. Yada yada yada, Chris, I'm sorry you feel that DC should keep paying Moreno for what he has done this year. While he is still moderately dangerous with the ball (sort of like a guy using Viagra...he's semi-potent), we tried him at the attacking mid position, and he was even worse there than he was at forward.

Show me a position where he is worth the price he is costing us, RIGHT NOW, and these rants will be stricken from the record.

If Moreno get's with it this offseason and get's healthy I think DC will give him one more chance, but if he shows up at camp next season out of shape or hurt I think he'll be gone before too long.

Personally I hope he get's it together in the offseason because I think he can still play in the league.

He might need a personal trainer and a psychologist.
Hell, the whole team might benefit from the latter.

I was always led to believe that MAE and Moreno were a package deal...if you cut one, the other would go. it's made it a tough decision in the past because it's alot of team to have to rebuild. But, given MAE's accelerating aging and general ineffectiveness and Jaime's total collapse, I think dumping the whole package is for the best.

Such is the life of fickle fans as well..

My point was more towards his accomplishments and all the joy and success he has given to us fans over the years, not one completely injury plagued season..

While I agree with everyone that he is and was not near worth his salary this season, he was worth it for the prior 6 seasons where he was a main cog in getting us to the top of MLS.. Players in this league are not paid for their potential, they are paid for their results.. Jaime achieved great things in this league and thusly got well paid for it.. This season was completely different for him and it most probably will be reflected next season in a massive wage cut (if he wants to continue playing in MLS), which wouldn't be undeserved..

The fact that he didn't really earn his salary this season is immaterial in that there simply is nothing we can do about it except piss and moan, which many of us do quite well when things don't go the way we want them to...

Were all frustrated at the crap seasons we have had to endure recently, but to denegrate a great player who has been the butt of dangerous tackles and hacks for 7 years now is a little short sighted and selfish...

I'm willing to give Jaime a chance to show up at camp next pre-season and try out for the team. Basically meaning, he better keep his @$$ in shape during the off-season and he should be prepared to come off the bench (or stay on it) if he can't do considerably better than the Q's. I am pretty fed up with all his injury crap as well, but I don't think he ever really had the chance to get in shape after his "knee work" was complete. If he is willing to work during the off-season and come back healthy and fit, I think he can contribute to our team.

When was he last at 100% for an extended period? (I'm not trying to make a point, I really just don't recall how long it's been.)

Injuries affect athletes not only physically but mentally. In the case of a forward who's been productive over his whole career, a knee injury can be a trully debilitating thing. This year must have been beyond frustrating for Jaime. You could see that he wanted to play. He was doing a slow burn at the beginning of the season watching everybody else train and not being able to participate. He wanted to play so badly he went to Bolivia for alternative treatment. Did he rush things? In hindsight maybe he did. And maybe we wanted him, NO, NEEDED him to play for us. How many of you that are now calling for his head, wanted him in the lineup at the start of the season? C'mon, lets see some hands, I know you're out there. So he plays injured most of the season and you are ready to throw him out with yesterdays newspaper? Hardly seems right to me. If Jaime comes back 100% next year and with a different club, I think we'll be very sorry indeed. The major thing I noticed with Moreno was his lack of confidense. To make that sharp cut, to boot a 30 yarder, to accelerate. All that because he never truly healed. Once he does I hope he's still in a United kit to prove all his detractors wrong.

He hasn't had anything to prove at the beginning of any other season, either. Moreno has been very lucky with his health for the last several seasons. Sure, there have been some niggling injuries here and there, but nothing severe like last season. He has always been welcomed back to camp with open arms because of his performance during the previous season, regardless of the progression of his bout with Dunlap's Disease during each off-season. Hopefully, this past season will make him realize he is getting older and his body needs a little bit of extra care to stay healthy and in shape. Give the man a chance to get fully fit, then make a judgement on his future with the club.

I don't think Jaime will be back, nor do I think we should try to keep him, but if he's in shape he's still better than most MLS forwards. I will always remember Jaime for the good times. Two I won't forget are watching him toast Agoos at RFK where he went half the field to score for Bolivia. I remember that because my 5 year old told me afterwards that he had seen that run and he knew he wanted to be a soccer player when he grew up so he could do that as well. The other is the goal at Foxboro in 99. Gave me and my son great joy as we hugged in ther stands! Finally, I will remember Jaime for always being a gentle man to my son and I when ever we ran into him. He was always patient and pleasant. So I won't rip him for not playing well for some while and really doing very little to help DCU this year. Best wishes Jaime!

And I acknowledged the accomplishments of Jamie. We all have fond memories. He was a great player and has never been anything but a class act with his interaction with the fans. Thank you for the memories Jamie.

It is not degenrating a player to say that he has lost his confidence, ability, and desire to play. These unidentified nagging injuries are not the sign of a class act. His loss of confidence to shoot the ball is not a sign of a great player. The three games that Jamie could of won for us (KC, KC, SJ) and did not are not the sign of a captain.

If he was struggling with injury and the fans preceived that he still cares and still has the desire then the comments about his playing ability would not be as harsh. Even Ray has admitted he has questioned that desire.

Open up cap space and preserve the golden memories of Moreno not the travesty that he has turned into.

Exactly. Thanks for the memories NO QUESTION, but how many years, how many games, is it going to take for us to realize that JAIME MORENO SUCKS

How many crucial sitters, PKs, games has he missed? Remember those w/"fond memories"-HELL NO!! He's provided me w/misery. This sorry pouting crazy therapy-wanting too tired by halftime fat cheesburger loving always injured SI hogging cap screwing choking former soccer player drags down the rest of the team-there's no question about that

We need a fresh player in here. We have to get rid of Moreno somehow-even if it means eating some of his salary. We may have to get rid of other players because he'll continue to hurt our cap

I'll choose to live in the present, not the past. The goals that Moreno scored in is "hey day" don't mean jack s today. He's had his chance to prove his worth-I'm glad we gave him the chance he deserved it-but he's done miserably-thanks and SEE YA. He will NEVER AGAIN be the Moreno of old-he is FINISHED

And you say why all this lack of respect-I'll tell you. He's getting payed $250K to go out there and play like he respects the fans that cheer for him and pay his salary, but in no way does his attitude or his play show respect for the fans. If he won't respect us fans, he shouldn't get our respect, at least he won't get mine. Some other SI for $250K can come in here and take his place and do better-you d*** well know it's true

Where does this pissing and moaning get us?? Maybe nowhere-but I need to vent as this guy Moreno has made me sick

Really? I recall Moreno having an awful season (shin splints, overweight, etc.) very early in his DCU career. I believe he the was the team MVP the next season.

    It could happen again.

Are we forgetting that this is a professional sports team not your local youth team? Personnel decisions are based on what a player is doing now not what he did during the past six years. As has been documented on BS many times recently, Moreno's production has been declining for the past three years for whatever reason. A team with a miserly salary cap can not retain a high paid, unproductive player no matter how great he has been or how nice he is as a person. I hope and believe that Ray was not blowing smoke up our butts when he said that we will have someone meaningful alongside Q1 next year. If Moreno were willing to return for 100K next year then maybe give him a chance, but with one more year on his contract I doubt that would happen.

If he is traded (a sucker born every minute) or released (contracts are not guaranteed right?) I hope it happens before the end of the year so there isn't any rush in filling his spot.
