More United transfer speculation

With all this speculation and an Old Trafford leak inspired news about Barthez on his way out, our Red News snout spotting what looked like United scout Michael Brown at the airport flying to Istanbul today can only have us thinking he's taking a look at Rustu Recber. (Calamity..err..David James of West Ham is also being rumoured as a possible replacement, as well as Sunderland's Danish keeper, Thomas Sorenson)

The best part about this Recber rumour is this:

In December, Rustu voiced his regret that United's tentative interest in him last summer had come to nothing and, although he has not ruled out the prospect of staying in Istanbul, he re-iterated his desire for such a move earlier this week.

Manchester City had been linked with a bid for him, but his response left no doubts about his ambition. "If the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona or AC Milan did not make an offer for me, I would not play for a second-class club like Manchester City," he said.

According to the always reliable (for a laugh anyways) Italian Press, Victoria Beckham met with Inter Milan President Moratti to discuss a summer swap for her husband.

United's principal summer transfer target remains a centre forward to relieve some of the goalscoring burden from Ruud van Nistelrooy, with Djibril Cisse of Auxerre, Claudio Lopez (Lazio) and Ronaldinho (Paris Saint-Germain) among possible contenders.

Cisse, the France forward, has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as clubs in Italy and Spain, while the competition for Ronaldinho would be no less intense.

Ferguson expects to be given at least £25m to spend this summer, possibly more if Ryan Giggs is sold to Inter Milan.'

Sir Alex Ferguson is already understood to have enquired about the young Italian's availability and may be poised to make a move when the transfer window re-opens at the end of the season.

Chelsea's financial plight has been well documented, and it had been widely expected that strikers Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink or Eidur Gudjonssen would be sold to balance the books.

Well, we're signing US U-17 defender Jonathan Proctor in the summer. Friedel just re-upped with Blackburn, Keller is settled at Spurs, but I'm not sold that he's still up to scratch anymore personally.
There's really no one good enough in the US squad or MLS that could break into our starting eleven. But you could say that about 90% of the countries and clubs in the world...

Spector. And I think Reyna could fit in nicely as a substitute. I really want to see us get either Cisse or Defoe (providing West Ham get the drop). Both are going to be very good for a very long time.

Yeah. Spector.

Anyways, Reyna is coming off a severe knee injury, but fully healthy he could be an asset. Sunderland look poised for the drop, so we could snatch him up on the cheap.

Defoe, Cisse, Davies, Bellion, etc. If you think speculation is going on now, just wait till May.

And I don't want Roberto Carlos, he's 30 and suspect in the defense. (If he was that good he would only have one name)
