We didn't want you here, but welcome, let's hope you show the (impressive)Benfica form for us instead of the World Cup form. :D

Yeah for hype, mediocrity and invisibility!

A great talent though... especially against weaker opponents and low pressure arenas.

Haha, welcome Angel, play well and do it quickly because you can get eaten alive in Madrid. I am officially a supporter, and hope you can prove you're worth the effort.

Sadly, I thought the same as I typed that. It's a shame really.

Well an easier signing to stomach at the price they are reporting, but still not the biggest fan of this signing. However now that it is official, I wish him all the best and I hope in a year's time mymy is laughing at all of us for hating on Di Maria.

    Welcom Di Maria!!!

I hope you read this (joking):

One warning for you when you come to play at Madrid, please take anything Madrid fans say/think/yell/post about you and throw it where it belongs, in the garbage. Madrid fans tend to be complainers. It is tough to characterize such a diverse group as a collective, but that's probably the best description. Pessimistic complainers who always think they know everything.

Di Maria is a talent, let's hope he proves it at Madrid next year.

PS: does anyone know how much Madrid signed Di Maria for? I didn't see a total.

    Wooohhooo.

I find that timing point of this transfer very bad, because he has looked like a nervous trainwreck so far in South Africa. May this official announcement give him some chillin' moment.

Hopefully he can cope with the pressure of being at this club. Good luck to him...he's gonna need it.

Not welcome at all. We might as well play Drenthe instead of him.

If there is one thing he's shown us all, it's that he can cope with pressure. :p

It applies only to him. :D

That last bit about "thinking they know everything" sure does.

    Lol @ the not-welcome comments.
One thing for sure: He can hardly flop as much as the 65 M € flop. :p

We should send Drenthe to Benfica on loan, then when he "Quaresma's" the league sell him to the highest bidder for 30M.

    Proactive thinking.

I like your ideas :D. It would be hilarious if we sell/loan Drenthe and he becomes a better player than Di Maria.

    We should send Benzema instead.

Poll added. It runs 25 days, so that 'teh experts' can't come back and vote in 6 months when we push this thread back up depending on how he is playing.

Looks like you're describing Benfica fans.
Fan pressure won't be a problem, he's used to taking it from all sides here in Portugal. If he fails at Madrid it'll be for other reasons.

Naw, we'd be short on strikers. Gago could use a year or four there though. :D

Quaresma was the most booed by his own fans player here in Portugal when he was with Porto. If Drenthe does come to Portugal (some reports in the last days linking him to Sporting) he'll have a hard time trying to piss off his own fans more than Quaresma did.

I think you're drastically underestimating the pressures that come with being a Madrid player.

WHEN he fails in Madrid it will be becouse he is not good enough for this club. C'mon, if someone blows at him he'll fly of the ball, I can't even imagine him playing against teams like Inter or Chelsea..

I know alot of people have wanted silva and ozil to a certain extent. I agree with mymy, i am sure this kid will come good since he is now part of the team. You have my full support and maybe this may ease his nerves.

BTW, The poll is unfair. Where is the choice for Between Very good and Average. You cant give 3 options and say good crap and average. You need Excellent, very good, average, bad and Mediocre.
