Right on the heels of yesterday's revelations of Condi's intentions to let the world know what we really thought of security on that fateful day of 9/11/01, we get this crap. So now the W.H. is taking it upon itself to decide for the commission what is "relevant" or "duplicative." Note that the documents have been gathered for the archives by the commission for its use. You know, I don't care if the W.H. has legit security concerns about this material or not -- although I don't see how really classified stuff would have been turned over to the N.A. in the first place -- it is just that this gang has blown all of its credibility on this matter. They've been B.S.ing and engaging in character assasination and outright threats against their critics for so long that I don't take ANYTHING they say at face value any more. Let's see the records f8ck3rs! Oh, and while on the subject of character assasination and outright threats... You know, a Republican prosecutor is not very likely to string out an investigation into a fishing expedition against a Republican administration. This likely means that a) the charges have merit and b) everyone smells a coverup. Repeat after me children: It's not the crime that they'll nail you for, it's the coverup.
The reason any rational person is doubtful about the Bushies' motives here is that they released Clintonista documents that embarassed Clinton, but held on to some that the Clintonistas desperately wanted released because those documents defended them. IIRC, it was about Pardongate.
"We are providing the commission with access to all the information they need to do their job," Mr. McClellan said. This is one of the most arrogant statements I think I have ever read. If the WH is going to censor and redact 75% of the documents from the past administration, then the findings of this commission - by definition - will be a sham. They might as well just rubber stamp a WH report on terrorism and be done with it. At this rate, the publicly available information on terrorism at the "George W. Bush Presidential Library" will be a fvcking pamphlet and a picture of our fearless leader in his flight suit under the "Mission Accomplished" banner.
Bring this ******** up to the "man on the street" and watch his eyes glaze over. I'm starting to get this feeling that none of this will matter to the average voter and Bush will be reelected. It doesn't help that Kerry is shut a sap.
I formed the belief early on in my military service that about five percent of the population is really in the game. The rest of us are just participants going with the flow. I made it my goal at that point to exercise what little intellect I had to fight my willingness to initially take everything at face value. Sadly, I failed in this effort when I cast my vote for Bush in 2000. I won't make that mistake again. As far as the rest of America is concerned, I think that most are preoccupied with making money, taking kids to soccer/hockey/dance/football/baseball/basketball practice, mowing their lawns, cleaning, going to school, working, etc. to really spend the time necessary to break down the complex operations of our government and all the **************** they pull. And let's be honest, there is a very large portion of the population that feels disefranchised. They stopped giving a ********. When that happens, can you really expect them to pay attention. It all appears to be the same ****************. So why bother?
I haven't given a sheisse for a long time...but this Bush administration has made me want to go out and vote just on principle. I can't be the only one, and hopefully that will make the difference. Then again, I'd like to think that I'm 5 percent of that population. Though Kerry is a sap, he's better than the alternative. Anything is better than the alternative.
The fact that Bush is still president at this time is all the evidence that I need that the American public are indeed Sheeple. I, for one, think it is not just that they "are too busy" or "turned off by the nasty politics and money". These are all excuses that are covienently ponyed up to hide the truth. That the vast majority of the American Sheeple DON'T WANT TO KNOW. If they actually paid attention it would mean they would have to care. Even more scarey is that if they actually paid attention then their relatively safe world of soccer practices and dinner and worrying about paying the mortgage would be pierced by the realities of all of the nasty crap going on out there. They would have to worry about the destruction of the environment or the burning of U.S. civilians in Iraq (btw - why do you think so many news agencies didn't run those photos? The Sheeple don't WANT to see those images not that they can't handle seeing those images). Once that comfortable bubble is pierced then most folks can't help but wonder what their SUV is doing to the planet or why we have not found WMD's etc. Face it, it is far easier and more comfortable to live as a Sheeple instead of an informed citizen (of any political persuasion).
