I know The Crew are playing terrible and we are all frustrated and down on this team. I noticed there is not a pre-match thread for tomorrow evening's match vs. NYRB. Wow, this is getting serious!
Also, trying to figure out when the last time both the Buckeyes and Crew lost on the same day. I did a quick check in 2011, it happened once.
Bad sports day, Cbus edition:Today was only the 5th time #GoBucks & #Crew96 have lost on the same day.9/22/01: 13-6 @ UCLA, 3-1 vs SJ (playoffs)9/10/05: 25-22 vs TEX, 3-1 @ NE10/17/09: 26-18 @ PUR, 1-0 @ DC9/17/11: 24-6 @ MIA(FL), 1-0 @ PHI9/11/21: 35-28 vs ORE, 1-0 @ MIA— Steve Sirk (@stevesirk) September 12, 2021
Yeah, I forgot to vote and would have voted lose by 1 (my standard for road games when the team isn't playing well). Did that for the away match vs NE earlier in the year. Would have been in first after Hardhead was unjustly docked 100 points for being a stupidface.
Just imagine all the Berry jerseys they must be selling. Probably just flying out the door at 150 a pop. Why it's....... Oh wait. That's right - they don't HAVE any jerseys to sell. Seriously bad.
Speaking of jerseys, Dr. Pete seems to think we play in yellow: It was quiet and peaceful a few hours ago but this place is quickly filling with energy and support for our men in yellow. Go @ColumbusCrew! #Crew96 pic.twitter.com/Lht3lVWvsm— DrPeteEdwards (@DrPeteEdwards1) September 14, 2021 Of course, we don't have a yellow jersey (yet) and wore black last night. Small detail. IMHO, we could have gone old school (in a baseball sense) in the de-brand and changed our name to the Columbus Yellow Stockings. We at least do have yellow socks in the kit arsenal this year.
Not unexpected and I haven't seen the official number but from looking around the stadium that had to be the smallest crowd in LDC so far. 12-14K?
That's an outstanding number for a September Tuesday in Columbus. EDIT: It was the best attended match of the night, outdrawing even the Seattle v Santos Laguna League's Cup Semifinal (12,201)
Can we, uh, unsticky this thread please? There are a number of comments here that don't apply to the game from Saturday at Miami.
The reported attendance number is tickets distributed, not a turnstile count. So about 3k seats unsold by the team plus however many no shows among those with tickets. I doubt there were a lot of single game sales from the team since it was easy enough to buy at a lower price from resellers. So that might imply close to 17K STM purchases, even if some were just partial season packages.
