Team is dogshit. I've officially reached the point where a large part of me is rooting for the collapse to ensure a regime change and a roster overhaul.
Chaser. The Crew are now -9 in the final 15 minutes of games in which they were leading or tied. https://t.co/RN8KDtErMn— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) September 14, 2022 Is that bad?
F'ing lame. I'm gonna be "that guy" and say I'm over the season already. This garbage isn't going to sort itself out soon enough. At this point it doesn't matter if we make the playoffs or not. I just want to get on with the business of ditching dead weight on this team, signing new guys and hopefully sacking Porter.
I'm at work with a bunch of downtime and had nothing better to do but watch it and now I'm mad at work, lol.
It's an unlikable team, playing a terminally dull style, lacking in leadership in character, managed by a delusional ego maniac who takes no responsibility for the state of the team other than to insist that a team that has failed to win two straight all season is a championship contender. I'm a glass half full guy, thankful there is only four or five more games of this garbage to go. The Columbus Crew SC 2022 Video Yearbook: Hey Guys, We Tied Cincinnati On The Road Again!!
After looking at Bailey's game story it does look like our ego maniac failure of a manager did take responsibility for the loss. So, I guess that's a silver lining. #SunshineBrigade
This was also his first goal in over four games and over 400 minutes. I'm glad we have Cucho. I'm not sure we'll have him for long. He's one of the most talented strikers the Crew has ever had. But his production has waned a bit after an extremely hot start. I believe that likely has more to do with the game plan and the team around him than Cucho himself. But it is what it is.
Something really hit home last night watching this game. Compare the situation between Cucho and Gonzalo. Everybody knows that both are real threats and defend them accordingly. However, Gonzalo was making runs behind the line all evening and losing his defenders. It took some miracle defending to break up the passes to him several times and he was creating havoc. Meanwhile, Cucho can turn nothing into something but he is usually floating around like a target forward. Great in the tight spaces but the defenders don't have to track too much because he does not make the runs like Gonzalo does. Cucho takes an inch or two separation and creates miracle events. But if he is off or the service isn't just right, he is not doing those dangerous runs that keep defenders on their heels otherwise.
It was lovely. We had some Chicken Picatta, drank some Chardonnay. We laughed a bit. We planned a bit of this weekends upcoming trip to the beach. And we went to bed early as happy, content, and exhausted married couples do on a Tuesday evening.
FWIW, I think we will fail to make the POs. I do not see us beating Orlando away or NYRB at home. Nor winning a midweek game in Charlotte. That puts this week-ends game as our best shot at a W. Any word on Mensah/Etienne availability? Also, if we miss, Porter & Bez get the sack, right?
