More Cowbell? Nah, more...

while hilarious, I think the joke is maybe a little too "inside" to catch on.

 

Although the "Tony Meola tastes your wife!" chant is promising....

 

Ok, now that there is a thread for it, I have to ask...What is with the cowbells?

The main thing it was a simple comment on an off-season thread that was made into a runaway idea and slogan (assisted by a funny skit on SNL with WIll Ferrell and Christopher Walken)

I believe the guys on MLS Wrap last week mentioned "more cowbell" in discussing the DC-NE game. More proof that there is lurking in our midst.

 

Not to mention the fact that whats-his-name idiot next to Wynalda on the ESPN booth said the Cowlumbus supporters needed more cowbell at the Crew v. N.E. match. I was cracking up laughing for almost 3 minutes.

Not necessarily. It's not just us who've been running with the Christopher Walken sketch. It's been showing up elsewhere for a couple of years. There's a very popular electronica/house song that samples Walken's voice from that sketch ("I've got a fever . . .The only prescription . . .is more cowbell"); I've seen "More Cowbell" t-shirts on TV; etc. It's a reasonably pervasive meme.

 

Are there any more the of the Cowbell t-shirts left?
