Am I wrong for thinking this is a stretch? I saw the sash as continuity of a somewhat outdated design element and not something that was really historical.
I'm sorry I really don't like this logo. It looks for me as a cheap US sporting teams logo. The shield is modern yes but it doesn't have any design sense. I could find that sense in a monster car event or something. the Sash is too thick and not elegant enough. If you want a modern version of a classical shield, I find the fat Arsenal shield modern and simple. (Burton Albion, Morecambe and Canvey Island also using that format). For me Vancouvers Logo still the best MLS logo.
name one US team with a logo that look like that even if you found one I don't consider that to be a slam, but a compliment
Agreed, and would be different from the rest of the league instead of being yet another blue team. Btw, love the logo, I like the way the fleur continues off the shield.
I was thinking of the original Rapids uniform before they nearly became Rocky Mountain Arsenal. That's nearly as hard to find a picture of as the original RapidMan. 2003 - 2005 2006
Look like what? more precise pls. Whitecaps logo is good a bit retro combined with some German/ Communist block style logo. Yes I do agree the font in out of date and not artistic. It looks cool yes that might be the problem, but the font style and shield simply lacks some X-factor.
The more I look at it, the more I don't like it. I think it's really underwhelming. Something sharper definately could have been designed.
I'm loving it. I think it's very elegant yet powerful. I especially like the placement of the fleur de lis. It really speaks for Montreal and Quebec as a whole. I also like how everything on the badge is in French including the accent on Montreal. It's definitely top 5 on my list. There is far far worse in our league as far as badges go. I'm also liking the new kit. So with Montreal and Portland we now look like we have Arsenal and Inter in our league. Lol.
The worst part about the text is huge amount of space at the top of one end, and the accent being a different colour than the word. I've seen people complain about the serif font, but I dont really care.
The bones of it are ok, I guess. I would think color gradients in a logo are a big no no. (Or are those gradients there just for the unveiling and not the actual goods?) Also I don't like how impact is all tiny with extra space on one end. I think if they cleaned this up, sort of how they made the Timbers logo refined after the unveiling, it could be very good.
If the video is anything to go on, the kit pattern may have already been decided. It looks like blue/black stripes with Saputo continuing as their sponsor. It appears that their kit pattern is a tie-in to thier badge design.
I'm ok with it but I think it could be better. Lack of balance to it I feel. Seems weighted to the left. I think I read this somewhere, but I agree that there's parts put together that don't fit together just right, it's lacking something unifying in the design. It's definitely not a work of genius when I compare it to some of the rest of the world. But in MLS there's no good logos really..
Fail on the logo. It's really unbalanced with pitch black only in the bottom half. Also, the shield shape is too generic.
You need to send that to Joey Saputo & the FO. They say the logo, four stars, and slogan represents unity, how about unifying the damn fonts... this looks much better.
Okay, I've decided, I don't like the logo. But it doesn't matter. I'm more concerned about the kit, and blue and black is good. I was looking over logos in Ligue 1 and I mean, come on, MLS has no clue. Look at some of these. First off they don't fall off to one side, and second they are not a hodge-podge.
