Monterrey will open on December 14 against Al Sadd of Qatar who are the host or OFC champion Hienghene Sport from New Caledonia. A country cannot have two clubs, so if Al Sadd when the AFC Champions League, they will start in Round 2, and the AFC Champions League runner-up will take the host spot and play in Round 1. Al Sadd reached the AFC Champions League Semifinals, and the remaining clubs are from China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Since the winner of the all-Saudi Arabian Quarterfinal will play Al Sadd in the Semifinal that is the Final of the West Region, a Saudi Arabian club cannot finish second to Al Sadd, and therefore they must win to qualify. The Chinese and Japanese clubs will qualify before the Final if they win the East Region Final and Al Sadd wins the West Region Final, but the Final will still determine which club starts in what round.

If Monterrey reaches the Semifinals, they will play Liverpool.

Congrats Monterrey. Was at the match. Anyway, here's some from the stadium footage but no goals unfortunately. A decent showing from the Monterrey fans though. Good luck Wednesday!

https://www.fifa.com/clubworldcup/n...ates-with-teammate-trent-alexander-arnold-of- is titled "Firmino comes off the bench to fire Liverpool into final." Liverpool hardly led. They led from the 12th minute goal to Funes Mori's 14th minute equalizer and after Firmino's winner in the 90+1st minute.

On Saturday at 9:30 A.M. USA Eastern, Monterrey will try to tie the best finish by a Concacaf club in the Club World Cup when they play Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia in the third place game.

    https://www.fifa.com/news/the-week-in-numbers-x5870 says:

"100 goals for Monterrey is what Rogelio Funes Mori became the second player to reach by scoring in a 2-1 defeat by Liverpool in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019™ semi-finals. Humberto Suazo netted 121 for Los Rayados."

Monterrey went down 1-0, up 2-1, tied at 2, and won penalty kicks 4-3 after 5 kickers each. Their third place tied the highest by a Concacaf club. Monterrey is the first club outside UEFA and CONMEBOL to have two finishes in the top three.

Thank you. They announced the score in English before they announced it in Arabic.

Ha ha yes. This country is 90% expats - most of whom don't speak Arabic. That's pretty normal, it's kind of like being in Singapore or Malaysia or a place like that.
