Have any of you guys been watching that new show, Monster House, on Discovery? It's a home improvement show on crack which makes it pretty amusing. The basic idea is that some homeowner volunteers for the show and tells the host what his or her interests are. Then the homeowner moves out of the house for a week while the host and a team of carpenters/electricians/plumbers/etc. outrageously transform the house based upon the homeowners interests. I've seen two episodes so far. In the first one, the house belonged to a newlywed couple who wanted a tropical getaway. The Monster House team than proceeded to build their fireplace into a giant Easter Island tiki god head, inserted fishtanks and terariums into the walls, build a bamboo kitchen table with a grill in the middle of it, installed seven showerheads, fake rocks and two hot air blowers into their shower, stuck a bisected sailboat in the backyard, painted the pool black, built a tiki hut next to the pool, replaced all of the concrete around the pool with dirt and plantings and put a massive fan on their roof to blow "tropical" breezes. While trying to complete all of that work in just five days, one guy shot a nail through his finger and got zapped from a live wire. But ultimately, the homeowners loved it. I imagine it would hurt the house's resale value but they didn't seem to mind. In the other episode, the homeowner was a 20-something with two roommates. They told the host they like to party at clubs. So, the Monster House team turned the place into a 70's disco. They put in a cool bar, lighted dance floor, disco ball, spinning bed and a spinning bookshelf with another bar on the other side. Once again, the homeowners loved the place. So, if you are looking for a twist on the ordinary home improvement show, check it out. It's on Discovery at 8pm on Mondays or 10pm on Saturdays. Murf

Ahh, Monster House! The first episode I ever saw was the Tropical Getaway also. It was amazing to see them turn an ordinary house into what it was. The 70's disco was cool also, even though that crew bitched a lot. I think I've found a new favorite show. I've only flipped through Monster Garage, but watching them turn a house into something totally different is a lot more interesting.
