Building the soccer pyramid: Deloitte report makes case for promotion and relegation in USA Telegraph.co.uk Deloitte report suggests promotion and relegation would be good for U.S. soccer Howler
Riccardo Silva is one presumptuous dude...pays several million dollars to get into nasl and immediately wants to introduce not just a new primary club competition throughout the hemisphere but also promotion and relegation in AmeriCan... Yeah we're going to follow that guy...
Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, President of Business Operations Andy Loughnane and Brand Ambassador Frankie Hejduk will team up with MAPFRE Insurance to deliver Thanksgiving dinners in North Central Columbus this week.
trust me, nothing is going to get promoted out of the NASL (unless you count Minnesota buying a MLS franchise rights for $100+ million). The whole league is about to be relegated soon. ps. Where did he get those stats in the Howler article. 88% of fans say promotion and relegation would be good for US soccer? Really, I highly doubt his stats.
You would think that this posting board would be going nuts with the Klinsmann dismissal, but strangely not too much buzz. Of course i understand that USMNT lost to Mexico and Costa Rica but it seems weird to dismiss a coach in the midst of the Hex. It seems even stranger to dismiss the coach and not even have a replacement ready. If indeed it turns out that Bruce Arena gets the MNT coaching gig it would be a case of "deja vu all over again". I remember when Arena was dismissed from USMNT because apparently he was "out of ideas." I think we need some new blood in there. Petke? Wynalda? Sigi? Kreis? Preki? Cobi Jones?
Bruce's last game in charge of the USMNT was over a decade ago; he's a fine choice for the year and a half left in this cycle. If it were a full cycle, I would agree to look elsewhere.
All the posters who were screaming for Klinsmann to be fired, now don't have anything to scream about. LOL They’re probably in shock at the moment.
well I dont fancy Arena, but it does seem as if Arena will be the the coach that will get us through the hex--although it still has to be officially confirmed by US Soccer. Once the hex is over, assuming we dont qualify, the federation should search for a longer term solution. If we do qualify then i assume Arena would lead us through the World Cup and if he achieves a good result might stay on as coach...
....because the people who wanted JK out were US soccer supporters for a long time. We know what our country is, it's limitations, it growth....and just how much there still is to do. We are not delusional. There is great relief that a destructive, manipulative, political narcisist who was in over his head is gone. Not joy...relief. He took advantage of kids, the inexperienced, the ignorant, the superficial, the self loathing, gullible and Euro pixie dust worshippers in shameless, despicable fashion. He shit on all who worked to get the game where it is today. If he was a top coach it would still be tolerable, but it is obvious that he is true charalatan. These last few baby tamtrums he took were embarrassing even for him...and that was hard to do. I just feel relief. Andreas Cantor, a fan of our team as long as I have been...about 45 years, said it best....JK is lucky that we don't understand soccer here, if we did he would have been gone after the WC. It's a shame, but I've said it and it's true. We aren't very bright and we are self loathing, inexperienced, generally ignorant and insecure....it makes us easy picking for a charlatan and con man.
I think I actually like Bruce as an Interim through Russia 2018. But then we need something fresh and new. I'm just don't like the idea of fresh and new, while trying to qualify. Our margin of error is too small now.
the move had become obvious and in that sense it almost needs no comment. i'll just say that i expect fewer germans, more americans, and even a few more mls'ers.
i think you're over the top, but then you've been over the top all along so why change now. personally i don't think klinsmann is as ignorant as you make him out to be and, believe it or not, i hope he brought something that over time will help some of the players. because let's face it, the players don't come out smelling like roses either.
well, at this point it was so obvious that it's almost non-news. thing is, unless the players really quit i've got to believe they would have come through the hex anyway. and remember that jk's team played its best games on european soil, which i guess was a possible positive for the next wc (ok, i now, it's actually in russia).
thing about bruce is that, in my opinion, the improved outlook for the hex is inversely proportional to the expectations he might bring for the wc itself.
Definitely. He should be able to get the Americans' heads and shape right to qualify, but he'd be outcoached at the World Cup by more tactically savvy coaches.
Actually, if you go to day one I was spot on with regards to how this would end....real ugly and the team imploding. Said the longer JK stayed in charge the worse it would get. I never said he was ignorant. Lacking leadership and coaching accumen...yes. He is a smart political shark. He knows when and how to strike. He takes advantage of the ignorant....so swing and a miss there. I have always more or less given the benefit of the doubt to coaches and officials my entire life. I have also seen what happens to people demoralized in a sport environment and office. There comes a point when it's on leadership, and there inability to make proper decisions. It takes a while, but continuous poor leadership takes everyone down, even subconciously. Two years worth of terrible leadership. It's understandable. Last year I said it was no longer on JK...he was who he was....it was on leadership. We have had pathetic leadership here.
