I just read this article and it explained things well. When I watched the highlights on the MLS website, it looked like there were 7 minutes of stoppage time according to the scoreboard. Anyone know which is right?

While I hate Man-U as much as the next guy, maybe it will help drive a little more attendance towards Old Trafford on Tuesday. Attendance for the women's tournament has been embarrassingly bad. I don't know about anyone else, but if there was an Olympic event being held in *my* town, I would show up on principle, even if I didn't care for the event playing out. And you wouldn't have to give most of the tickets away for free, either. No worries though. I'm sure the Olympics will be back in another 50 years or so...... They can catch it then.
Yeah it is a little depressing but coming off the Euros and factoring in the home team has little chance . . . I don't think it is a compelling story for most folks over there. Not when there are two thousand other events that they may NEVER see to attend.
Women's soccer in the Olympics is counterproductive. Not stupid actually. Diminishes the WWC and hurts growth of the USWNT program..............Make it an U-23 tournament like the men. Radically downsize the venues. Lord knows the young players who are not established on the various senior teams badly need minutes because there are so few club teams in the world with proper training/ competition that have open slots for youngsters. Would it not have been nice to see people other than Abby, and Boxx and Llloyd scoring goals and creating chances. Their putative successors are sitting at home, arrested development, not getting any better. This is particularly painful now that there is no D1 ladies soccer in the USA.
