This stuff is great but it still shows how far MLS is behind Liga Mexico. Maybe one day MLS can evenly compete with them on a consistent basis. It will happen but how soon is the answer.

Everywhere and Nowhere.....I'm the wind, baby.
    Two quotes:

"There was a January report in Sports Business Journal which said the Yankees have increased their credit limit from $175 million to $300 million. That same report cited a source close to the Yankees who said that it’s unlikely that the move is tied to Yankees payroll or player acquisition, further adding “This source said to expect news soon on a new stadium site for NYCFC.”"

    Sweet.

"NYCFC continues to be ridiculed by pundits, reporters and fans regarding the use of Yankee Stadium as their home venue."

I know some of us here on bigsoccer rag on them, but are they really being "ridiculed by pundits, reporters and fans"?

if only the vancouver whitecaps FO and ownership had this type of communication- but FO Pres, bob lenarduzzi, said on tv interview from the debacle game in SKC on saturday that the players are now playing for 2017- when the pres goes to a road game, its not for love- its to send a message- he's pissed and will do what it takes to save his own arse and the integrity of the team (it must come from the ownership group)

i think the hammer will fall soon on the head coach, maybe before the end of the season- its that bad!! the players are shutting the coach off and many are playing with indifference- when that happens, there is only 1 possible outcome

I assume you're making a joke here, but I'm not getting it.

I watched the NYCFC v Galaxy game at Yankee Stadium and man was that field small. It was painful to watch and a horrible example of field conditions to the foreign media markets(ex: England: Gerrard AND Lampard).

Oh, I don't disagree that it's a poor setup; it's just that we all kinda knew that, while temporary, it was still going to be the situation for the foreseeable future. To continue to "ridicule" just seems pointless.

Higher Salary Budgets, More money in player development, and playing important games in season rather than MLS pre-season.

Also seems unreasonable to always ignore it and sweep it under the rug.
Ha, see what I did there.

The field is indeed small, but it's the same size as the field that West Ham played on at Upton Park through the end of last season. So the field dimensions do not represent a big problem, even if they are not ideal.

The foreign media markets watching Saturday's game would have seen a packed house (35,000 fans, a good total for any team outside the super-elite of world football), and would have seen and heard fans who were well into a match despite the match itself not being all that exciting.

Also, from the angle from which the matches at Yankee Stadium are shot, with the outfield seats behind half the field and the first-base-line seats behind one goal, the television pictures look just fine.

Obviously a more natural configuration for a football pitch in a baseball stadium would be to have one corner near home plate, the way pitches have been set up in matches held at Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Or, if they did run the pitch across the oufield, they could have made it a little wider, as has been done at Citi Field. But the problem is that the Yankees refuse to allow the pitcher's mound to be removed and replaced for NYCFC matches (even though, curiously, they have no problem with doing this for the Pinstripe Bowl).

All things considered, anyone watching the most recent NYCFC match -- or any of their recent home matches -- would have seen a very good commercial for the league.

Yeah sadly I think we are all impatient. When I think of where MLS was ten years ago until now, I can't believe the climb they've made. If the next 5-10 years equal the last decade, there is no telling where it will be. I just hope I see the league rise to great heights in my lifetime.

I've been to a game there, soccer game this season NYC vs Philly. It's not that bad. Yes, it looks awful on TV due to the camera angles being setup for baseball, but as far as watching a soccer match in the venue itself it's not bad at all. Yankee Stadium is an amazing venue, and has all of the amenities a modern stadium needs. Plus their concession service is fantastic, and beats the pants off of the CS at RBA and PPL...errrr...Talen Energy Stadium.

Yankee Stadium is not bad at all from a fans perspective. They have a ton of seats (behind home plate etc) that have terrible sightlines, but overall it's great! Great access, great amenities, pretty good atmosphere. I would rather Yankee Stadium, where it is, than Toyota (or Bridgeview because nobody wants to sponsor that piece of crap) Stadium. League-wide, if you rank stadiums by location alone, Yankee Stadium would have to be right about near the top. That's why i'm cautious about getting a new stadium. Personally, I have great seats at YS, so i'm in no rush to move to a new stadium, which may be at a much less convenient location.
