Dungannon Swifts FC- semi-professional football club in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland top tier
Seagull Horseshoe Castle FC No, Storm the Lucky Castle FC Really, we set sail for Northern Ireland today. Dungannon Swifts FC in the North Irish Premier League. NOT Taylor's favorite football club, but probably should be. They are from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Some of the Irish side of my family is from County Tyrone (although most are from County Mayo), but I have not been to the North.
I must say Chicho Arango is everything that's wrong with MLS roster building. I'm not an LAFC fan but a team not being able to keep players that they develop and add depth to a roster begs for the day that the rules get more simplistic and the budget grows. . To see how he left LAFC and finally returned to RSL is something they should address. One of the ideas of MLS teams being able to just buy players from each other with cash instead of Garber bucks might help the situation. At the very least it would help raise the purchase price for players across the market and maybe let the league retain more players who are willing to stay here.
It happens all the time in sports. I’m a fan of the Carolina Hurricanes, and they’re going to have to let a handful of players leave because of the cap.
I understand the Cap part, but in this case he moved to Mexico just to come back to MLS. They sold him for 5.5 million and RSL brought him for 5.58 million after 17 games in Liga MX. I don't think he was able to do this without Liga MX being a middle man.
Ummm....Chicho wanted out of LA because he didn't like his role with them. The reason they sold him to a LigaMX team was so that they could get more GAM from a transfer fee, and also allow Chicho to then be sold to RSL (who I believe at the time didn't have enough GAM to trade to LA for him). This is one of the reasons MLS GM's/CSO's have been asking for an internal transfer market/system to be setup.
Bingo. Makes no sense to have him leave the league to get around rules when the GM's no they can do a little better and keep a player that raises the quality and wants to play here..... The league of choice.
MLS is all about making money but they are leaving money on the table by not having an internal market that deals with real cash. Pachuca is known for not overpaying for players and still bought Chicho for $5M+. What's the value a player like Arango has in MLS in real cash? How about Vazquez, Mukhtar, Acosta?
