It looks like the next Call of Duty game may not be "Call of Duty" at all. The teaser up now for "Modern Warfare 2" has no mention of "Call of Duty"... anywhere. Not even in the URL. http://modernwarfare2.infinityward.com/ Out this November. Can't wait. Still playing CoD4: Modern Warfare all the time.
i saw this today too... i will get it the day it comes out... and a confirmation of November releases will put to rest all those rumors of '09 summer bliss with MW2.... oh well... more time to raise my COD:WaW status...
My friend is a video game blogger/columnist and just returned today from the game developer's conference (was that the one?) .... anyway, he said it's still a Call of Duty game. rumor? who knows? he said he'd check into it ....
It's just curious that they'd elect to toss such strong branding away. I guess that's a testament to how strong CoD4:MW was. I don't expect gameplay to be drastically changed from CoD4.
Next issue of GameInformer's cover story will be on this game. There are some screen shots of it on the nets (I'd try and link to them now but my filter at work blocks the site). One of the things I was able to read from the small print in the screen shots is that there will not be co-op for the campaign but there will be some sort of co-op style game play available. If your interested in hunting down the screen shots, I saw them on Giantbomb's message board but I'd guess you can find them other places too.
So we all know that big games normally come with a special edition on release, Halo 3 had the Master Chief head and GTA 4 had the duffel bag. MW2 decides to blow all of them out the water and go complete insane with this; [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMSS12iY1X0"]YouTube - Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition Unboxing (Official)[/ame]
This only raises the question of what do I play with first on the night of release, the game or night vision goggles?
I am pre-ordering this shit tomorrow. I showed my wife tonight and she just shook her head and walked away without saying a word. I then said, what it's cool.. her reply? I don't know who's more of a kid, you or your 3 year old son. I already marked down November 10th as a vacation day at work.
I'm baffled by how much controversy that caused. Who cares? It's going to cost $149 according to Infinity Ward, I hope they release it in the UK
My wife has come to accept that her husband still plays video games, but spending money on CoD NVG might be a bridge too far for her to understand as well.
Luckily for him I won't be passing near his house, I only do that when I head into work... which should be in a few minutes. off topic... how's he liking it here?
So after dropping numerous hints this morning to my wife about the Prestige package she told me that she put half down on a pre-order for my birthday. She then proceeded to call me a dork. Woot, NVG's here I come.
it's not controversy (at least not with me) ... just heard it is, it's not, then it's on the cheap game, but not on the more expensive ones. at this point I'm just curious.
ok -- it appears I'm the only one so i'll ask -- who the heck needs night vision goggles? unless you're a stalker, I mean. Seems like one of those things that in a few months you'll be wondering why you spent the money on them. you're gonna wear them once and then what? am I the only one who thinks this is one of the silliest things they've heard in a bit? anyone? probably not.
I think they'd be cool like once or twice a year. Going camping or something, but I can easily see them sitting on the shelf and collecting dust after I get them.
