Hi BigSoccer Fans I just wanna let you know my site about Modena Football Club 1912. The team - named as "Canaries" - plays serie A again after 40 years since the last time: actually we are in the 12nd position, preparing next game against Milan AC. The site has 2 versions, italian and english: the address is www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912 Happy to hear your impression and talk about the Canaries, see ya all. Massimiliano
Welcome, Massimiliano - Unfortunately, your team has been dropping like a rock through the standings after their surprisingly good start to the season. I wouldn't get your hopes up to be playing a really good Milan team that just embarrassed themselves last weekend. We might be talking 4-0 !!! But you never know. Did Modena add any strength to their squad during the transfer window?
Hello Sue. yes, we had a great start that pushed us pretty high in the ladder, till the 5th place after 10 rounds. then we got only 2 points in 8 games and now we are 12nd. Someone here was already thinking to join Champions League, probably the actual dimension fits more to us ... Anyway fans follow the team with great passion, stadium at home is always sold out (more than 13.500) and even away there are lot of supporters (10.000 went to Bologna in december to join an important derby, has been a wonderful crowd!!!). In the transfer window, we sold 3 players (one defender, Zamboni and two strikers, Pasino and Taldo): we bought another striker, Vignaroli but we are trying to get a good bomber and another defender. I'll let you know about any transfer news ... bye Massimiliano
News on transfer window Some news from the transfer window in this afternoon. Modena got from Juventus (till the end of the season) defender Emiliano Moretti, age 21, who played 8 games this year in serie A. The club however is still searching for a good forward able to score some goals and push the team out of troubles: transfer window ends on Friday 31st January. GO THE CANARIES! ps: you can see everything about the Canaries in my website http://www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912
Our forward Diomansy "Joe" Kamara' has been called by coach Guy Stephane to play tonight friendly game between Senegal and Marocco in Paris. Kamara', father from Senegal and french mother, celebrated scoring a great goal (the 3rd in this season) in Modena 1 - Roma 1. GO JOE!
Yes I totally agree, a great goal. We played a very good first time, with some opportunities to close the game. In the second half Roma made a big pressure and we counter-attacked, it seemed to end with a victory till the last minute, with that goal ... what a shame! next sunday Canaries plays against Torino, we only need 3 points! ;-) p.s. tonight, in the under 21 game between Italia and England (1-0), our forward Sculli made the assist-man to forward Borriello for the winning-gol. hope he will come back to goal with yellowblue suite very soon. GO THE CANARIES!!!
Massimiliano, want to knock a couple of beers back in Modena and talk about the club? You got a Modena supporter out of me now.
Well well, talk about Modena (winning, please!) in front of a beer, what's better?! ;-) where are u from?
Modena 1 Chievo 0 Finally we got it! After 3 months (Modena 1 Piacenza 0, 10th round) the Canaries come back to victory in front of their crowd. Well has been a poor game to be honest, not very exciting. The Canaries confirmed the scoring problem, while Chievo - as coach Del Neri admitted - played a game under its own possibilities. I think the game was going straight to 0-0, when suddenly Milanetto kicked a long ball from midfield to Sculli, who hit perfectly the ball! the goalkeeper, surprised, just touched but the ball went into the net! what a goal! the stadium seemed to explode! to avoid any doubt, there was no offside from the scorer, Sculli. We lived 15 tough minutes but at the end we got these 3 points, which let us make a good step ahead! this saturday, at 8:30 pm, we have a derby: Modena plays away against Parma. GO THE CANARIES!
Sculli has just kicked the ball ... Sculli has just kicked the ball ... <center><img src="http://www.modenafc.net/foto/02_03/22g32.jpg"></center> which goes into the net! <center><img src="http://www.modenafc.net/foto/02_03/22g33.jpg"></center> MODENA 1 Chievo 0 Next mission: Canaries @ Parma, Saturday March 1 at 8:30 pm.
Talking about pictures ... if you wanna see some pictures of the yellowblue fans all around serie A stadiums, check out this page: http://www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912/foto_2002_2003/pics.html and let me know what do u think. bye
I hope it too ... actually we are safe, but there are still 11 games to play so there's a lot to do. Last saturday we played @ Parma a good game, specially in the first half. Adriano, brazilian Parma forward, made a wonderful goal, I hope you saw it: 2 dribblings and shoot, I have to admit has been a great football spot. But after 2 minutes, our midfielder Scoponi scores a goal very very similar to the goal he scored a few weeks ago against Milan: so 1-1, I let you imagine how was our reaction ;-) Later in the first half, Cevoli, Modena defender, hit the bar too ... @#§*!!! In the second half Parma lead the game, they tried to win the game and we counter-attacked, at the end I think 1-1 is a good result for both. About passionate fans ... there were almost 5000 Modena supporters, proud to sing and support Canaries! COME ON CANARIES!
MODENA 1 Perugia 1 Hi everybody. I just came back home after the 24 week game between Canaries and Perugia. Well has been a very good game in the first half. Perugia hit the bar after a few minutes with Miccoli, but Modena reaction can't wait: at the 14th minute, our midfielder Colucci scores assisted by Vignaroli. The game is always exciting: Vryzas scores, but it's a clear off-side and the referee can't validate it. After a few, Kalac - Perugia's australian goalkeeper - made another great save on a shoot by Vignaroli. At the 32nd minute Perugia draws: our goalkeeper, Ballotta, doesn't keep the ball on a penalty kick and Vryzas, greek forward, scores. Let me say there was a foul on our goalkeeper from Vryzas himself, that was my opinion from our side. Half time 1-1. In the second half, another 2 great save from Kalac and only 1 good chance for Perugia, but both teams seemed quite tired and the game closed with a draw. The ladder is almost the same, we are still 2 points ahead from relegation area, anyway there's lot to do. Next saturday we play @ Torino against Juventus at 8:30 pm. GO THE CANARIES!
Ahh Sorry I haven't been active that much. A result against the Bianconeri would be crucial. I hope the guys get it.
Juventus 3 MODENA 0 Yes, taking away from Torino at least 1 point would have been very important for the ladder: and we were on the good way, but one more time the referee did a big big mistake, disallowing us a clear goal! As I posted on the Juve forum, that goal was pretty regular! Shouldn't I be nervous after saturday night? specially if I remember what happened in the home game Modena - Juventus some months ago .......... Back to the game, the Canaries played well, cloasing all the ways to Juve and trying to counter-attack: we also hit a post with forward Kamara'. In the second half, a few minutes after the disallowed goal, Juventus scored: the guys got nervous, being under 1-0, we didn't play as well as in the first half, in the last minutes other 2 goals ... But let me say that disallowed goal could have been changing the game! Saturday Modena plays Reggina @ home, Braglia Stadium: come on guys, we have to win. GO THE CANARIES!
MODENA 2 - Reggina 1 Yes, we won! We won a tough game, it was too much important! After 30 minutes quite boring, where both teams seemed to wait on their own, the referee Pellegrino sent out our defender Cevoli (we're still wondering why, seriously ...). On the penalty kick, Reggina hit the bar: this was probably the only intresting thing in the first half, beside a lot of fouls. Second half. The Canaries, despite being 10, try to make the game with a continuos pression: around 15th minute, Milanetto finds Balestri in the lower right area, he controls the ball and shoots: 1-0! Thrilling game, with exciting things from both sides: Reggina goalkeeper Lejsal saves on Scoponi shoot, while Reggina hits the bar once again. Modena scores in counter-attack at 89th minute: forward Sculli skips defender and goalkeeper and kicks the ball into the net: 2-0! Reggina in the end scores too: powerful shot from Savoldi at the 94th minute, but the game is already finished. Modena wins, and the whole stadium celebrates the Canaries! Next game, on 7th April @ Piacenza ... GO THE CANARIES!
About the stadium Take a look to the stadium redevelopment project. Actually our stadium looks like this http://www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912/stadium.html On May 2003 redevelopment works will begin, to end within September 2003: how the stadium will look like? watch it here ( http://www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912/stadium.jpg 1 biggest image) and here ( http://www.tifonet.it/modenafc1912/nuovo_stadio/new_stadium_work.html more pics).
MODENA - Lazio Hi guys, sorry for the delay! yes I attended the game, honestly I have to say it was a pretty boring match. The first rule, for both teams, was "Don't let the others score", so you can imagine what kind of game came up. We had the greates chance with our defender Cevoli, who kicked the ball (coming from a cross) just 4-5 meters from the goalkeeper, but the ball went out a nut away from the post. People - like me - behind the net really thought it was goal! On the other side, Lazio had a good chance towards the end of the game but forward Corradi, alone, headed high above the bar. So nothing special, by the way a good point for the Canaries, earned against the 4th team of the championship. (Check here for some good pictures from the official site: http://www.modenafc.net/foto.asp?s=02_03&g=28) But Easter was fast approaching ..........
The Derby Game: MODENA - Bologna ... and the Canaries were preparing a great suprise for their supporters! Modena and Bologna are about 40 km far, but specially there's a rivalry hundreds of years old. Modena - Bologna is "the derby" here, much more nowadays - with the Canaries back to serie A after 40 years - , much more because Bologna beated us 3-0 last December, much more because we don't win over Bologna @ our Braglia stadium since late '40s ... so last saturday there was a great atmosphere here, with fans preparing choreography since early morning. There were about 3000 Bologna fans, all wearing a red&blue shirt with the number 12 above (they meant to be the 12nd man on the field ...). on the other sides, everywhere a yellow&blue coreography: scarves, banners, the canary Tweety hitting Sylvester the cat, ancient poems, lot of stuff about this ancient rivalry. I felt my skin thrilling, when we first chanted our hymn just a few minutes before kick-off ... We scored early with our forward Joe Kamara, at 13rd minute: ball on his feet, from right to left, he dribbled 2 players and the third threw him down. Joe after the tackle hit the ball with the elbow and the ball went into the net: no penalty, the referee directly validated it! 1-0!!! Bologna equalized at 20th minues, with a free kick from their forward Signori: a good goal, but the ball was clearly deflected. The first half ended 1-1, lot of things still to happen. After only 20 seconds in the seconds, Bologna scores: yellowblue defenders made confusion with the ball and let Signori go away and put the ball behind our goalkeeper, right in front of us. Has been a tough moment .......... We had many troubles in the following 28 minutes, Bologna seemed to control the game. But, suddenly, things changed: Kamara, from the right side, crossed into the area, forward Sculli (who came on the field just few minutes before) controlled the ball, kept it down and kicked in the angle, between goalkeeper and post. It's 2-2, the stadium seemed to explode! The guys felt they could have won the game, kept on attacking and at 40th minute we scored again: free kick from midfielder Milanetto, ball high into the area, Sculli jumped higher than others and headed into the net!!! GOAL 3-2 3-2 3-2!!! I'll let you imagine what happened after the goal: Sculli ran over the field towards us jumping and screaming with all the other players! All people were singing and celebrating this great victory, showing proudly our colors to Bologna fans who without a word went out of the stadium back to the train station. Some crowd troubles happened near the stadium, but nothing special: we kept on celebrating, inside and outside the stadium, these guys who made the Canary bigger again! THANK YOU ALL GUYS! GO THE CANARIES!!! Look at some good pictures here: http://www.modenafc.net/foto.asp?s=02_03&g=29s
