5 players listed as from the United States and 1 Not Available; the other 26 are all foreign (though the Canadian kid from Simon Fraser shouldn't count since that school is in British Columbia), coming from 16 countries on 5 continents.

BTW, this Sigthor Juliusson kid, a freshman at Auburn-Montgomery, had 35 assists!

I think this has to do with the ex-pro thing. I also think you will see the rise of forigners in NCAA III due to the new rule change.

Juliusson used to play for KR Reykjavik and scored a couple goals in early-round Champions League play a few years ago.

Just for fun I looked up some info on some of the other international players...

James Gledhill--used to play at Division I Fairfield, had a trial at Burnley in Spring 2001.

Siemon Mulama--may also be known as "Simon" Mulama. If so, he played for Mathare Utd in Kenya and Ismaily in Egypt, also capped for the national team. Described as one of Kenya's most promising players.

Gavin Oldham--possibly played for non-league Mossley in England.

Andrew Barron--maybe played for Miramar Rangers and Waterside Karori in New Zealand

Masego Ntshingane--captained Mogoditshane Fighters in Botswana. Played in 1999 and 2001 COSAFA Cups for Botswana.

Andre Cooper--Played against US in 1998 CONCACAF U-20 qualifying, also played for Trinidad U-23 in Olympic qualifying

I don't have the answer to this question, but the college where I work is NAIA. Some of their basketball players are... well, let's say they're not 18 when they start their college career. A few years back, NAIA basketball had a problem with guys playing 7 or more years (at two or more different schools) because it's so under-the-radar.

I'm not saying that any of these guys have done so, but it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out one of them has already turned 30.

Most of the NAIA sites don't have bios of the players and of the few that do have bios, most don't have dates-of-birth so it's pretty tough to get their ages.

Dave, I was able to find out the age of 1 of these guys - Chris Williams the first teamer from Mobile, is an 81.

His DOB is listed on the roster he's included on for the Canadian U23 team's camp in Florida this week that culminates with 2 friendles with the US.

    So, that's 1 down, 32 to go!

I think Khumalo is either an 80 or an 81. He also played for the PDL Bucks this summer I think, so he may have an interest and ability to play on at the A-League or MLS level. I wonder how much longer he is planning to stay at LW?

According to the Bucks website, Boyzz Khumalo was born 10/27/80 so he just turned 22.

If he wants to play in MLS and not count as a foreigner, he can only play 1 more season of college ball and still qualify for Transitional International status.

OK, Dave, 3 down, 30 to go!

BTW, that Icelandic freshman is 27? Shiit, no wonder he was able to be so dominant.

One other thing. I confirmed that Andre Cooper did play for T&T in U20 qualifying a couple years back. That was the same cycle as Cherundolo and Bocanegra, etc.. went through so Cooper is thus a 79-80 so he is no older than 23.
