"Johnston said he's close to adding another international. wouldn't reveal his identity, though he did say the player will arrive tomorrow. (Sunday the 13th)" http://www.torontosun.com/Sports/2007/05/13/4176457-sun.html Does anyone have any ideas about who this might be?
On Sportsnet Soccer Saturday they just said the player is a Trinidad & Tabago striker with the last name Samuel (I can't remember the first name of the player).
That is true! Just saw it on Sportnets also... Some info on Samuel: Real name: Collin Samuel Height: 5'10 Date of birth: 27-08-1981 Place of birth: North Manzanilla, Trinidad Position: Forward Nationality: Trinidad & Tobago International Caps: 17 International Goals: 3 2006/07 Stats: 26 Apps - 5 Goals Best Season: "His best season so far in a United shirt was the 2005-06 campaign, making 37 appearances, playing both up front and out on the wing. With 8 goals."
Hmm not bad at all.. He is a very creative player.. So it seems like we have added a "Soca Warrior" To TFC
Not sure I understand that. You guys already have Dichio, Buddle, and Eskandarian up front. Shouldn't Mo be trying to shore up the defense?
Yeah WTF? Another striker? And we have Lombardo, who has shown over the last two games that he may very well be the best striker on the team in a very short period of time. I just don't understand this move. What we need is a world class striker (like a Robbie Fowler type) or no striker at all. Defence and Midfield should be the primary objectives. Goldwaithe and Boyens are always a shaky proposition at the back field and Andy Welsh has seemed quite incompetent at LF.
i dunno man... i know sportsnet might be reporting this but with the epl ending the season, it could also make sense that maybe radz is on his way...? no? much rather have radzinski and i would honestly trade either esky or buddle or both. lombado and dichio would be great for radz. he would get some pretty good service. radz is still fast and he can hit that ball very hard. i think much etter than esky can even though he's younger.
Yeah. I would much rather have Radz than this Samuels dude as well. But if the choice were between Radz and Fowler, and both required the DP spot, i would definitely go with Fowler.
i cant see how he can make a difference, he scores 5 goals in 27 appearances? this guy sounds as consistent as buddle.
In my opinion... if it's a striker... someone else will be traded for a central defender. I'm thinking Eskadarian might be dealt becasue he would probably have more value then Buddle. Not to mention Buddle finally showed what he could do on Saturday...Lombardo is looking good...Ibrahim is finally ready to start trainning and Mo seems to like him...and now the new guy.
i would like to see a world-class Centre Back....Brennan isnt a Centre back...hes a mid...if im not mistaken he plays LF...which would mean Welsh would sit...welsh has the pace but it wayyy to soft...Canizalez would be much better offensively on the LEFT. but all in all...A centre back would be Ideal....DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
I saw the interview on The Score where he mentioned wanting a DP and he really sounded like he wanted a striker; Somebody would could excite the crowd. Maybe his tone is a little different after saturday though. I think a defender would be best. With the full compliment of players, I think they looked really good. O'Brien, Wynne and Edu are going to create plenty of scoring opportunities. I think replacing Goldwaithe on the left side with someone who can stay on his man would be the best option. Yes he scored, but his sloppy defending cost us the KC game, and I saw him do the same thing yesterday.
actually, he is a little sloppy but he also made some good moves too. and i'm not just talking about the goal. he was defending well at times.. and it's probably just more to due with his inexperience. yes we could use a couple of more experienced defenders but they are doing alright. much better than two or three weeks ago... but samuel is only on trial and judging by his numbers, he would hav eto really impress to mak ethis team. and if he did, it would be almost certain that one of the other strikers would go. and it wouldn't be dichio or lombardo and i don't think ibrahim either... so either buddle or esky...
Im not a fan of Buddle. I wouldnt mind seeing him go. I like Esky though. Hes got great footwork and is a good compliment to the target men Dichio and Lombardo. That said, if Esky has to go to make way for a DP striker, so be it. They did okay without him yesterday.
This man speaks the truth fowler = legend, if mo had half a brain he would be throwing money at fowler. But still think we need a defender, thats why the move for kennedy was a good idea. Im sure he can pick one up but the problem is if he picks up a mediocre one then he might aswell just play himself. We need quality at the back!!!
As they say in Ireland "Bollix"! Concede zero goals a season and what happens? You win nothing!! If you don't score goals, you don't win matches. If you don't win matches, you don't win Championships. Win 5-4 every game and you've a chance of winning something. As long as you score more than the opposition you're in with a chance. Putting the onus on the defence used to be the Italian (cattenacio) way but with a surname like yours you probably knew that already?
It's just a trial for Samuel, but my guess is they're looking at him mostly as a winger. As was mentioned, Welsh looks soft, and they seem to want to develop Canazelez a bit further before putting him in on a consistent basis.
At the press conference Mo said "He'll arrive tomorrow, train Monday and Tuesday and he's going to watch the match on Wednesday before flying back to play a game for his team on Saturday." He also mentioned it's someone he looked at while with RBNY and would not count as a DP. Whether it is Samuel or not, i don't know...
Alex Del Piero said on the weekend in an interview that he would like to end his career in the MLS but he didnt say where or when. Would love to see Del Piero here at Toronto FC, but if he came I am sure it would be New York.
