So Mo narrows it down to a World Cup captain defender. Any possible idea who? http://nynj.matchnight.com/metroindex.cfm?page=ARTICLE&show=19102
Good clues are given for the different players.. Someone just needs to go through all the rosters to narrow it down..
Yeah; another player who we won't, in the end, get That piece is long on bluster and short on substance.
I could have sworn this thread was on its third page last time I read through the posts... ...in any event, how about Gamarra from Paraguay? He certainly fits the mold of previous "big name internationals" that have come to MLS...he's at the tail end of his career.
Cannavaro... fascinating concept in light of the match-fixing scandal. I could almost see it happening.
This line is pretty interesting... The Red Bulls Head Coach has even spoken with one of the biggest names in soccer. "Look, I spoke with one of the biggest name players in the world yesterday. They don't have the money for him now. Does he want to come to New York? Yes." I wonder who this player might be?
he is approaching his 33rd birthday -- his team in turmoil . . . the Captain of Italy makes a trip to NY a few weeks before the World Cup . . . hmmmm
(as I mentioned on another thread) this line from Mo got me thinking Fabio sounds like he's referring to a defender that plays in his home country . . . I guess
I wouldn't mind him, but to be honest, I haven't heard his name in quite some time. THink he played for River, Corinthians and Atl. Madrid, no? Don't know how much he'd ask for tho.
Most recently Inter, and he's currently with Palmeiras of the Brazilian league. I wouldn't mind him either.
And to think that Palestra Italiana won the Libertadores in 99, how the mighty have fallen. They even had Rincon on their team, guess the star power for Palmeiras has dropped since 99.
are you f____ing serious? That would be an amazing match up..... Juan Pablo would serve up JPP like a King.... where did you hear this?
I cannot reveal my sources. It would make sense. Mo said that the Forward he covets plays in the English Premier League. JPA had a terrible time with Villa this past season, mostly coming on as a sub. He's Colombian and, as he is a former Veeeerde player, he would draw lots of Cachacos/Athletico Nacional fans. Ha, Ha!
