Rapids fans. MLS has taken a big step this year with the draft center. It is awesome. You all have to follow the draft there if not watching FSW. The interface is great, there will be video (assuming no crashes) and there is a fun draft history to review all of Colorado's blunders in the draft.

It's fun to recal how Colorado took Jason Cole ahead of Jamil Walker last year. Or how in 2002 we took Danny Jackson ahead of Gavin Glinton. Or how back in 1999 we took Andrew Mittendorf from Lehigh (Lafayette is better) ahead of Evan Whitfield. The list goes on and on. I especially like seeing the 1996 Inaugural MLS draft where the Colorado Rapids selected Jean Harbor (who?) with the second overall pick, ahead of Raul Diaz Arce, Troy Dayak, Richie Williams, Jason Kreis, Frank Yallop, Brian Kamler, the list goes on and on.

So Rapids fans, let's use this great new feature on mlsnet.com for the next 12 hours to pray that Counce and Hanki don't repeat history and pass on a great talent. Let's watch with bated breath tomorrow morning to see who the Rapids gods will allow us to talk about day after day before the season starts.

Ohh yeah, Jean Harbor played for the Rapids from 2/96 until 12/96. A great legacy. He did get 14 US Caps.

    Quality Defender

Somehow Counce and Hanki need to use the two 2nd round selecions to draft one quality defender - think Leonard Griffin from UCLA.

I'll be surprised if he is still there to be honest.

Did you read the names in that first draft? Good lord. I think maybe 10-15 our of all those guys actually made a decent career out of MLS. For christ sake, Darren Swatsky was taken ahead of John O'Brien and he was taken in the 11th round. This league has come a long way.

Yes, the league has come along way. It was fun to look back and read the original draft. I feel like MLS organizations have actually learned soccer and know more about the kids coming into the draft.

Here is my desire for the Rapids two 2nd round picks; Matt Taylor and Leonard Griffin. Two UCLA boys who will help each other get used to Colorado and the league. They will both come off the bench at the start of the season, and some issues will help them become starters by the end of the season. They will help the Rapids make it to MLS Cup 2004!

Is the video only available via Real player? I don't have it, so I don't think I can get the video. I am following with the live draft tracker though, still a while before a relevant Rapids pick...

Same problem here. The MLS.net tracker is updating much faster than FoxSportsWorld. Wish I could just watch it.

I guess the Rapids don't try to make a move and trade up for Chris Wingert. You're kidding me! Try something!

I could see the Rapids going for Ned Grabavoy, although that goes against the stated need for defenders...

If Chicago doesn't take him, I think we will....

    We're on the clock now...

    Gregorio and Cann.

Didn't take 'em long to decide.

    Adolfo Gregorio and Adrian Kahn.

Looking at the highlights, Adolfo (midfielder) kind of like an opportunistic scorer. Just one of those guys that cleans up rebounds and whatnot.

But Counce and Hanki wasted no time on thinking about these two, apparently.

I think the Rapids did well. Physical size on defnese. A goal scorer in the midfield.

The Rapids should trade up into Chicagos end of round two. There are still quality players out there.

Here it comes. Rapids take a time out. Making a move into C-Bus' pick. From the Rapids originally.
