MLS Wrap was devised to include the Saturday night LA/Chivas game in the Saturday night highlight show. (Remember this discussion?:https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=192111&page=6&pp=15) So, they do show Sat night game highlights in the Saturday night show. And they do show highlights from games that aren't televised - all the time. Maybe they can't include highlights from untelevised games in the Saturday night show. I'm gonna keep this is my conspiracy folder though. Alongside "No Quakes in the All-Star Game" and "Scalia is a Hologram." http://members.aol.com/schwenkler/scalia/ "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"
The LA/Chivas game was televised. When the Quakes are televised at 7 pm, their highlights are on the show. They don't show highlights of untelevised games that start at 7 pm and end pretty much at the moment MLS Wrap begins. For earlier untelevised games, there is time to transmit highlights from the house tape to FSC HQ, but when the games end at 9 pm there isn't time.
I think the P.R. Depts and FSW should be able to handle that, and would if it were a priority. But I'll admit, the show is a mixed bag from week to week, and we're not the only team to get shut out.
I have not watched MLS Wrap for a long time. I don't like the current format. If they want to be cheap, just write the script as a text document and use a computer application to read it out. Plus, it is only of 30 min chopped up footage with commecial break. Is that what major league soccer (and its "Super clubs") deserves? In the past we at least had Harkes and Wheelock, the bad jokes and gift giveaway. Any highlight show on FSN is better than that (America Soccer or some show that pretends to be hip with similar name doesn't count since it is not really a highlight show...). The Asian Football show is much more exciting. It has no visible host, but the voice over does well. It gives you some background of the teams and the Asian leagues and the fans. They at least make you care a bit more about what they are showing. Even the Fox Sports Report's MLS coverage is better than MLS Wrap. MLS Wrap is so "GolTV" like...you feel so much "distance".
I may actually have to start watching mls crap again. After at least a year and a half Comcast has begun blacking out the MLS Kick package again. Oh well.
That's why I dumped Comcast and switched over to Direct TV just before the season began. The Comast reps knew nothing and I had to make many calls just to find out they blocked Direct Kick for no technical reason (that's confirmed by Comcast).
they did show the Quakes goals against FC Dallas a couple of weeks ago, including the Ricardo Clark goal of the week, from an untelevised game during their first airing at 9 pm. they don't always get untelevised footage, or get it immediately, but they try. what is happening sometimes recently is that the show appears to end 12 minutes in, there are 5 minutes of commercials, but the second half of the show does show more recent highlights, even on the first airing. earlier in the year they were adding stuff to later shows more than they are now.
...is crap. Last year, I enjoyed it, even though I hate John Harkes. However, this year has been a joke. The "announcer" gets the players wrong, doesn't seem to know soccer, and just plain boring. Since I can get highlights on Fox Sports World, I rather watch that show. Now, if you are talking about Fox Footbal Friday, I loved that show and hope it's back this year...
